With One Life To Live off the air and prospects for a new life online all but gone, four actors from the ABC soap opera have been snatched up by General Hospital to reprise their roles as part of a new storyline. Kassie DePaiva, Roger Howarth, Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson will head to Port Charles when the network’s last soap begins production later this month. The move was announced today by executive producer Frank Valentini, who along with head writer Ron Carlivati are OLTL alums who shifted to the same roles at General Hospital last month. Those pickups came after Prospect Park, which had acquired rights to OLTL and fellow scrapped soap All My Children, decided not to go forward with reviving the series online. “We have a very exciting story planned for the citizens of Port Charles, with Sonny Corinthos at the center of it. I am confident viewers and fans alike will be excited for the arrival of John (Easton), Starr (Alderson), Blair (DePaiva) and Todd (Howarth),” Valentini said. GH will mark its 49th year of broadcasting on April 1.

That’s strange; rats usually desert a sinking ship.
I am so excited that General Hospital is picking up the four stars from OLTL. I wish that they would have let the character of Natalie cross over to General Hospital as well. Now that ABC has taken All My Children and OLTL are off the air, I will NOT be watching The Chew or the Revolution. I have watched the two soaps since I was 13 years old. I am furious that ABC would even think about taking our beloved soaps off the air.
i THINK IT IS GREAT THAT GENERAL HOSPTAL IS PICKING UP THESE STARS FROM OLTL.
I THINK IT IS HORRIBLE THE WAY THEY ENDED THESE SOAPS, YOU REALLY LET THE FANS DOWM. AFTER 44 YEARS THIS IS HOW IT ALL ENDS.
STUPID I HAVE WATCHED BOTH FOR OVER 40 YRS
I WAS JUST SIICK
They should know that reality show are being over done. I enjoyed the fantasy of a Soap Opera. I will not watch a real family fighting among themselves.
Me too I have been watching the soaps since I was a teen, really hope to see them back in the future!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel the same, I have watched both show’s for ever..for at least 20 yrs. and really hate they removed them.. my girls even watched them since they was babies and well they are not liking them takin it off air.. maybe if many complaines they will put them back on..and I too will not put channel 11on during then hours ever again..durin them hours..and Natalie would so make a perfect role in GH..she has the perfect attitude to fit it..
I am with you on that, I don’t even watch general hospital all that much. I think it was rude to just take of these two hot soaps to put on something so boring.
I wish that Natalie from OLTL was joining General Hospital.
Frank and Ron are smart this might just make GH watchable again. Now bring in Dorian and have Roxy take over Kelly’s and we will have a ratings winner.
It may not matter.
ABC is going to shrink their daytime schedule by one hour in September; many ABC affiliates will fill the time given back to them with Katie Couric’s syndicated talk-show “Katie”.
The only ways “General Hospital” will stay on the air past Labor Day will be:
(1) If either “The Chew” or “The Revolution” gets cancelled, or,
(2) Both “Chew” and “Revolution” get reduced to a half-hour each.
Barring either scenario, “GH”‘s final episode will likely air August 31st.
That’s an incredibly naive assumption to state that affiliates will be leaping to fill any slot with Katie Couric. Breaking the bank to lure Couric — a … what’s another word that is the opposite of “celebrity?” — over to ABC was Brian Frons’ biggest boondoggle (next to cancelling two long-running fan favorites, of course). No one wanted to see her in primetime, or on the news, or at CBS … really anywhere.
ABC’s only true hope for salvation is to figure out a way to undo this fiasco and attempt to woo back — or at least appease — the legions of daytime fans it’s irreversibly pissed off and alienated. Throwing the angry masses a bone by tossing some of the OLTL actors into a life raft to float over to GH is a start, but they’ll still have a long way to go.
For the sake of the genre, I just hope no one throws a noose around Valentini and Carlivati’s collective balls and that ABC gives them both a fair and honest shot to turn this mess around. If anyone can do it …
Just let it die already. Painful to watch this show gasping for air.
Great to see some elements of OLTL live on. Would love to see Dorian pop up in Port Charles to tangle with Tracey or Monica. Maybe she can buy the Quartermaine mansion from Monica? La Boulaie can use a sister house in Port Charles..
The Revolution won’t make it I can tell already. It isnt something viewers want on a daily basis. I’m sure GH will move to 2pm/1pm or some affiliates will keep it at 3pm/2pm.
OLTL won’t sign off ’til FRIDAY …. she’s got a more life to her without being buried alive by articles announcing her demise a few days early…
I do think that FV & RC are headed in the right direction; Sonny and the mob storylines can now have a worthy foe in would-be titan-tyrant Todd and dark knight McBain…
And maybe (the rapists, etc.) Todd and Luke will be in group therapy together… or otherwise at each other’s throats?
i’m mostly excited to see Michael Easton and Kelly Monaco on the same show again.
i love the pairing of Jason and Sam, but I dunno, she had some pretty sizzling chemistry with Easton.
Thank goodness for this, Kristen Alderson has been on this show her entire life and has turned into one of the strongest actresses there. I don’t think she’d know what to do with herself without a soap.
If GH is ending this year, as it’s been rumored, then they need to end with the current canvas, and some old favs like AMC did. But why bring over 4 characters who mean absolutely nothing to the show. And this show has been revolving around Sonny for years! That’s the problem. We don’t need more characters to revolve around Sonny. The problem with GH is not the cast, it’s the stories. And if some actors get cut because of this, other than the newbies, this will hurt the show more than help it…
If John McBain is going to General Hospital that’s great, but it won’t be fun without Natalie and their baby as they are back together now and that’s why I watched in the first place to see them get back together, they are hot!
I am soooo sad, I can’t believe that all the 40 some years soap operas are taken or being taken off of the daytime tv. What is the broadcasters or producers thinking of by taking these soap operas off the air??? I’m sure besides myself, there will be very many unhappy watchers of ABC. They should bring them back!!!!!
Really other than General Hospital I have no reason to watch abc anymore and I think they could have sold AMC and OLTL to SoapNet or something other than the losers at Propect Park that couldn’t follow through. I think they just said all that to keep the fans from protesting thinking they would at least be able to watch them online.Oh well when their ratings fall to nothing maybe they will realize that the fans do mean something and be filled with regret and empty pockets.
Yes! And I’m one of those unhappy viewers. 40 years gone… just to bring in shows like the Revolution! Are You kidding me :-/
I will miss one life it has been a releive from a hectic livestyle.Watching other peoples problems makes mine not so bad.
I think ABC-TV is making a big mistake getting rid of all the soaps on their channel. They are going to lose a lot of their viewers. They replaced Oprah with more news, what is this station going to be an all-news station eventually? Then they replace AMC with The Chew and now OLTL with The Revolution. And now thinking about cancelling GH to give Katie Kouric a time-slot. CBS and NBC
are probably going to be happy about these stupid moves. I don’t think these new shows are going to bring up their ratings. They should bring them all back! AMC, OLTL and keep GH on the air!
Or did anyone think about bringing them back on the cable network:
SoapNet?
Exactly!!! I have watched all ABC soaps since they started! I started watching them with my grandma and mom, now I watch to escape the reality of my life for a couple hours a day! I don’t need or want any self-help gurus telling me what or when to eat, what to wear, how much exercise I need or how to parent my children! I DO NOT have a self-esteem issue. For all of those who do….TRY READING A BOOK! Leave our soaps alone. I guarantee “The Chew” and “The Revolution” will not still be airing in 44 years, Probably not in 44 weeks. They sure won’t get my viewership. I now watch “The Young and the Restless” and “Bold and Beautiful”. Thanks CBS for sticking to the program! I think Roxy running Kelly’s would be fabulous. Also, bring Nat and Liam to GH!
I hope General Hospital will not be disappearing in August. I have watched this show with my grandmother when I was young and it has been part of my adult life. ABC needs to realize we don’t need another ridiculous talk show or news show, we just want to sit and vedge out for an hour of two at the end of the day.
Very sad times for tv……
i too watched with my grandma and mother, it was sort of a bonding thing for us, we all sat together silently watching but before and after those three hours of soaps we were a family and those are some of the best memories of the two women i admire and no longer have with me
I hate that one life to live ended abc sucks!! Who wants to watch the crappy chew show or revolution they are boring and stupid!! Abc will be banned from my tv unless oltl resumes!!!
I agree. I like to escape for those 3 hours and may not be able to now. I also am thankful they brought some of OLTL’s cast over to GH and I also hope they do bring Natalie and Liem over too. I would also like to see Vickie or Jessie during Kate’s DID role. I know DID is real. I am also very happy that they do shows on real life diseases Like DID, Depression Cancer and Heart disease.
Please do not take GH off and bring AMC and One Life to Live back. We have too many reality shows on TV now both day and night and I am sick of them. I have gotten to a point where I am ready to get rid of our Cable and just watch movies at least the DVD’s and VHS Tapes have movies in their entirety not sections cut out because it seems like everything is a Reality Show almost now and I live enough Reality in my own Life and don’t need some more Reality it is ridiculous not all of us like Reality and want to get lost in our Fantasy once in awhile.
Thanks for taking the time to read this if you do.

I can say right now that i am VERY upset with ABC for cancelling OLTL and not happy about AMC either and if they think taking GH off air will help then GOOD BYE ABC i will not watch your network AT ALL because as is you took off a bunch of good primetime tv shows too so now theres nothing keeping me watching your network because you are turning it into a boring snoozefest with all these talk shows and news report shows and pretty soon if this keeps up you wont even have a network to run!!!
I agree with this statement I sincerely miss All My Children and will miss One Life To Live. Seriously, what are you guys thinking??
Why the HELL would ABC be so stupid to give that rotten old hag Katie Couric her own show? They claim they have no money to produce soap operas because they’re so “expensive” but I read an article that says they’re going to be paying that dimwit Katie Couric $40 million dollars for a stupid talk show that no one will even watch. The world is getting dumb and dumber, and everything is gone to hell when stupid people like this are in charge of making decisions. Idiots, please!
I’ll been watching these soap’s for far to long and I’m sorry to see them go, I wish they didn’t take AMC off for the chew and OLTL for the revolution, I hate to watch the chew that show is not somethng i want to watch and the revolution won’t start till Monday and I don’t beleive I would be watching that one too. So I guess I’ll be watching GH on the internate since it comes on at three, I’ll be watching other channel’s for now. Sorry to see them go. Goodbye ABC.
WE too are very sorry to see our favorite soaps leaving. the afternoons will be very boring now, so we will be leaving ABC too! how many court shows and talk shows and cooking shows can one digest?? we enjoyed being a part of these soap families.
I never thought my husband would watch a soap, but after his retirement? he enjoyed them as much as I did, it was just a quiet time for both of us to en joy being a part of their families, when they were sad? we were sad too, and enjoyed and shared their happiness along the way, we will miss them sooo much, and will not watch Tye Pennington!!! he is tooo much energy for us.
I will not be watching the new shows the chew or the revolution, i am sick to death of self help shows, nobody wants to watch them, we see enough reality shows in the pm, hate seeing them in the am, want my soaps back
I will never watch those stupid shows the chew or the revolution and none of my friends will eather.
I have been watching these soaps for the last 30 years and they have become a part of my life. I cannot believe they are being canceled for more cooking, decorating and self help shows. Really? How many of these shows are we going to get shoved down our throats? Now I’m hearing GH may be canceled as well? I can honestly say that if this happens ABC will no longer be a network watched in my home or the home of my family. I hope these new shows fall flat on their faces!
I have refuse to watch the new programs which have taken over my soap spots. Don’t we have enought TALK SHOWS. That is all that is on any more. BORING!! Be smart ABC leave GH on the air. Be Smart!!!
I think it’s terrible one life to live was taken off the air, I will never watch the replacement show the revolution.first of all I can’t stand Ty what ever the hell his name is.it’s a stupid no good dumb idea of a show and I would never watch it if they paid me.bring back one life to live abc stop being so greedy and think of the people who love this soap.after all we are the ones that keep your useless station get the stick out of your ass for once.bring our beloved one life back.greedy pigs
I agree I have watched AMC and OLTL for as long as I can remember. I am 38 and started watching when I was a toddler with my grandma. I love these shows and hate that they took them off OLTL is my favorite wish they would have taken off GH instead. They need to bring OLTL back.
