Moonrise Kingdom, which Focus Features is releasing May 25, 2012, definitely has that Wes Anderson feel and co-stars members of his usual troupe including Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman. The film is set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, when a pair of 12-year-olds fall in love and run off together, setting off a manhunt to find them. Bruce Willis, Francis McDormand and Edward Norton in an awesome pair of scoutmaster shorts also star.

More of the same whimsical shit that doesn’t make a dime.
as opposed to what?
try as he might, wes just can’t seem to figure out that blockbuster formula! he must be REALLY dumb.
He’s not trying to figure out the blockbuster formula.
Definition of SARCASM
2
a : a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual
At least he’s using a new font.
LOL
burkiss, i am handing you my soiled underwear. eat it.
Awesome.. I’ll see anything Wes Anderson does.
I second that…I’ve loved every every Wes Anderson film. He breaks all the conventions, leaves us scratching our heads but enjoying every minute of it.
Any idiot who makes the statement that a producer or director is dumb because he or she hasn’t produced a “blockbuster” film should reserve comment and continue eating their pablum. Just because the masses haven’t embraced Wes Anderson’s films doesn’t mean they aren’t wonderful. Since when was box office an indicator of quality? That’s a relatively rare occurrence.
nice Beetle Cat Wes
I think his audience is growing. In a year of sequels and explosions this will have a real audience. Ooozes creativity. Long live Wes
“I think his audience is growing.”
based on what? nothing? oh ok.
“In a year of sequels and explosions this will have a real audience.”
every year is sequels and explosions. this has no chance.
I’m sure the movie will be great because its Wes Anderson, but Focus needs to hire better people in their marketing department.
Fazan, you obviously have no idea what you’re talking about. This trailer is exactly like every trailer for Wes Anderson’s movies, down to the yellow font and retro music. It’s his brand. I’m sure he was heavily involved it creating it.
But Farzan is right about Focus. Their marketing is terrible. They really only roll out the A when a film has awards potential. It’s somewhat maddening to watch them not advertise and hope they break even.
I wonder if there’s a disconnect between two very odd people. Maybe an adult acts like a kid. I can’t wait to find out!
Pretentious crap for people who like to think they’re smarter/artsier than the general populous.
I am smarter and artsier than the general population – and I’m very glad I’m being catered for
“catered to”, dude… “catered to”.
I will now correct you. It’s “catered to,” dude…. “catered to.”
This looks like it could actually be good. Maybe Anderson finally spent some time on the script instead of focusing on twee production design details. Rushmore was a masterpiece but everything since has ranged from disappointing to awful.
This looks great.
Young kids acting like nerdy adults. Never gets old.
It’s sad when an artist, film maker, writer, or playwrite continually repeats himself. MR. FOX was an exception, but I credit that more to Raoul Dahl than Wes Anderson. But since Steve Railes will back anything he does, why should Wes try something new?
There is only ONE Anderson. And thats P.T.
I have a smile on my face after seeing that. Fantastic trailer.
At least the hipsters will have some new costume choices for this Halloween. The “getting dressed as one of the Tennenbaums” thing is starting to look tired after, oh I don’t know, 10 years.
This looks fucking great. Can’t wait!
His films are imaginative, but rarely entertaining. This is a filmmaker who’s way too in love with himself.
I can appreciate that he’s an artist, but I just don’t like his clever cleverness. Vapid and unemotional.
I challenge you to watch The Life Aquatic and not get emotional. The freaking three legged dog, that has all of two scenes, wrings more emotion from me than the entirety of something like, and exactly like, The Help. The moment you see the Spotted Jaguar Shark and the bittersweet ending are movie magic.
Good casting and lots of pretty shot composition but boy does this look like more of the same. Wes, have you ever considered doing something that would be a radical departure? Something written by somebody else, perhaps? I’m not sure if there’s any new ground to be broken with this style.
Hysterical. Best parody of a Wes Anderson movie that I’ve seen in a long, long time.
Bruce Willis is so boss!
Why is every single director allowed to have their signature style but Wes Anderson isn’t? Malick makes his movies in the same style everytime. You don’t see Woody Allen suddenly making a slow moving horror flick. Anderson continues to be a breath of fresh air and original. I do think his style has been so influential that the many copycatters have caused his movies to appear more “cutesy” then they actually are. By the way typically when people don’t understand something they call it “quirky.”
