EXCLUSIVE: I’ve just learned that The Hunger Games‘ Liam Hemsworth is about to close a deal to star as ‘Chris’ in Empire State, an indie heist movie written by Adam Mazer (Breach, HBO’s You Don’t Know Jack) with Dito Montiel (Fighting, The Son Of No One) directing. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is negotiating to play ‘Ransone’.
David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films are producing. Randall Emmett and George Furla’s Emmett/Furla Films is financing. Formerly titled The Sentry Keep, pic is based on the true story of a 1982 NYC armored car company robbery thought at the time to be the largest cash heist in U.S. history. Filming would begin in April. Both Liam and The Rock keep booking high-profile pic after pic recently. But this movie features my kind of casting: 8-pack abs times two. I like male pulchritude with muscles.

Really looking forward to this… Dito is an amazing artist and deserves a hugely successful commercial film, as this may turn out to be. Note, it’s the first time he’s directing someone else’s material…which may be the key.
you’re on crack. Dito is an awful filmmaker… to be an amazing artist, one must produce amazing art.
“The Rock” made a commednable move in accepting the offer to play “Roadblock” in G.I. Joe II. It will be interesting to learn how they handle the subtle rhyming that Roadblock is known for. Few and far between should be the best way to handle it. This fact alone is significant since it led to the cvreation of Heavy-Duty, another big, African American soldier who does not rhyme.
This is unfortunate since Roadblock is by far a much more desirable character. Let’s just hope they can harness it and deliver. From what I can gain from intial due diligence and audiop cuts, so far so good.
Thanks and Happy 2012.

Hope Dwayne can keep his ego in check. Earlier in his career he came across holier than thou. A bunch of flops later and he seems more grounded, lets hope.
yessssssssss!!!! with Montiel directing this could be the perfect combination of action and great filmmaking. verrrrrrrrrry excited!!!
The Rock is real good (when not wearing a bumble bee? outfit) Liam (dates Miley Crus?) and Dito Montiel certainly knows grit and NYC so I’m holding my opinion until I see the rest of the cast. But wedging my bet on the fact if Dito Montiel can get performances out of cinderblocks (Channing Tatum etc) he can pull it out of these two!
As a Miley fan, I am sometimes troubled that the biggest industry players are not helping her, even though she has a perfect record of making money on all her projects. It doesn’t matter, though, as the old guard will eventually fall by the wayside and Miley will be part of the new guard. The Rock, Liam Hemsworth, and Channing Tatum, mentioned in your post, all have close ties to Miley’s camp. And as a Miley fan, I will definitely be seeing this film.
