EXCLUSIVE: Boston Public alumna Loretta Devine has joined Lifetime’s new drama series The Client List as a series regular. Based on the network’s 2010 original movie, the series stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as Riley, a Texas housewife who after being deserted by her husband ends up running a massage parlor that serves as a front for a call-girl service. Devine will play the parlor’s owner. Screen and stage veteran Devine has been recurring on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, a role that earned her an Emmy Award last year.

Hoping for some hot Devine action!!!!!
Loved her in Boston Public.
One of the best character actors in the business. I want her to be more involved with award caliber material- not this Lifetime tv trash.
Maybe we could get “Dream Girls” reunion and have Sheryl Lee Ralph and Jennifer Holiday be guest stars.. That would be a show to see! I am glad Lorreta got this gig. She is so nice and very kind.
I think her guest role on Greys must be winding down because in future episode they find her roaming the streets. Does not sound good for her character
So basically everyone co-starring with Hewitt will be able to run rings around her.
Very excited about this casting. Everything about Loretta is beautiful. From her smile to the lyricism of her voice. She’s a joy to watch.
Devine is nothing short of spectacular. Her turn on Boston Public was amazing.
Hookers on Lifetime? What a gaseous notion.
Unlike a lot of other men, there are quite a few Lifetime movies I like. However, The Client List sucked. The writing was poor and the characterizations were very shallow and superficial. You never really got to know what made any of the characters tick enough to like or care about any of them, in spite of decent acting. The movie was heavily advertised and hyped, but didn’t come close to living up to it. I was hugely disappointed. I had been looking forward to it with great anticipation, because it sounded like an interesting premise (maybe a fresh take ?), although it has been done before. On the other hand, I like Jennifer Love Hewitt and especially Loretta Devine (I think she is one of the best actresses and singers around), so I will at least give the series a chance for a few episodes. A series will have a chance to use better writers, directors, producers, etc. and develop the plot and characters much more. Based on the track record of other movies they’ve attempted to make into weekly tv series, I am looking forward to The Client list with nervous and low expectations. I hope I won’t be disappointed, but would not be surprised if I am and it is quickly cancelled. Let’s hope for the best.
I agree that Ms Devine should be given some quality roles. she is definetly one of the best in the business and deserves better roles.
