At NBC’s TCA executive session this morning, the network’s chairman Bob Greenblatt addressed the future of Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay. Her work load this season had originally been reduced to accommodate her taking care of her new baby, sparking speculation that she may be leaving sometime this season. But she ended up being in every episode and will likely stay on the show beyond this season, Greenblatt said. “Mariska is not leaving SVU,” he said. Hargitay confirmed that in a pre-taped video. “I’ll be back,” she said. “I can’t leave this show, I’m having too much fun.” Hargitay did the video with Harry Connick Jr. who is joining SVU for a four-episode arc as her love interest, a new dedicated, straight-shooting Executive ADA assigned a case with Detective Benson (Hargitay).

I knew that Mariska wasn’t going to leave, she’s clearly very devoted to this show. As for Olivia’s new love interest well I’m glad that she has a love interest, SHe nees one..
And if Mariska still looked like that above promo shot, this would make sense. She’s looking a little rough for Connick these days, however. Would make more sense to bring back Kathy Griffith as a love interest, plus that would please the folks over at GLAAD, who recently harped on the lack of lesbian characters on the NBC network.
Kathy Gifford was never a love interest, Olivia isn’t gay. Although I have no problem with anyone who is, the fact remains Olivia isn’t. She’s always been attracted to men.
Forgive me for invoking my freedom of speech here, but can we please keep at least one series (Law and Order) free of a homosexual relationship? Respectfully, IndyPam

Mariska is in her prime in all respects. She has gained depth and variety in her acting and never looked more beautiful, unless you’re into size 0 plasticized blondes. Harry’s lucky to get her, and so is SVU. Bob Greenblatt must be real happy about this one.
What good news! I love Mariska. She is a talented actress and SVU is nothing without it. And I fully agree that it is said that at its best. Mariska keeps getting more beautiful. Who could resist those beautiful big black eyes? and that smile as sweet as honey? Mariska is beautiful.
What great news. Mariska Hargitay is a talented actress, beautiful and sexy and person of great character. His character deserves a great love. I’m anxious to see the show.
Lesbians are obsessed with Mariska disappointed. They want a romance with a woman Olivia. How much imagination, my God. Olivia is straight.
Actually . I just posted a comment about Christopher melonI . I didn’t like the idea of him leaving the show . I tried to follow him to to true blood . Sorry to say the show dissapointed me . But its not just about him . I love the whole cast of SVU . But I’m SO glad Mariska didn’t leave & that she says she loves it & is having fun!!
