Megan Mullally, who is joining the cast of the Fox comedy Breaking In, confirmed today that the long-rumored Party Down movie, inspired by the Starz series, is now a go and she will be part of it. “John Enbom is writing it right now, I’m excited about that,” Mullally said during a Fox panel at the TCA in Pasadena. After the session, she added that the entire cast is expected back with the possible exception of Jane Lynch, whom Mullally actually replaced (as a different character) after the first season. Filming on the pic is eyed for late spring/summer. Starz canceled the series back in June. It followed six actors and writers as they do side gigs and try for their first big break. The cast of the show, created and primarily written by Enbom, Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge and Paul Rudd, included Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Mullally, Ryan Hansen, Martin Starr and Lizzy Caplan.

thank god they are making this!! Excellent news.
BEST NEWS OF 2012!!!!!
Hyped or not, Party Down should be a movie because it was one of the best series of 2009 and 2010. I thought it was also one of Jane Lynch’s best work. Ken Marino is cool to watch knowing how versatile he can be. Adam Scott is more awesome in this show than on Parks etc. And Lizzy Caplan? Why is she not yet the next It Girl? The whole production under the Paul Rudd tree was clever and crazy. A movie version, however it will be received, would probably be a piece of great modern day comedy. Just get the entire cast, incluing Jane
Party Down should not have been canceled. I don’t know if the movie will work but the half hour show was perfect.
Great news! Hope they bring back MM’s daughter ‘Escapade’. The girl who played her was phenomenal.
This is awesome
Party Down is a criminally underrated show. If this brings it some recognition then, Hell to the Yeah.
Roman (Martin Starr) was my favorite.
Good news. Look forward to seeing it become true.
“arrrrrrrrrrre we having fun yet?”
They canceled it in June *of 2010*, for clarity’s sake. Other than that, AWESOME news!
This would be the most amazing thing ever! Please let there be a Party Down movie! Ken Marino is epic!
Huh it wasn’t hyped. Whenever I ask people about it they have never heard of it.
