This is more like it — the second episode of Oprah Winfrey’s new primetime series Oprah’s Next Chapter on Sunday drew 1.6 million total viewers, and a 1.3 women 25-54 rating. It ranked as the most-watched telecast on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, up 45% from the premiere in total viewers and 18% in women 25-54. The episode featured a interview with Pastor Joel Osteen at his home in Houston. Oprah’s Next Chapter boosted the second-season premiere of Oprah’s Master Class featuring Jane Fonda (930,000 total viewers, .69 rating in W25-54). It held onto a so-so 58% of its lead-in audience but still hit series highs, up from the series premiere last January.
Meanwhile, Season 2 of PBS praised miniseries/series Downton Abbey opened with 4.2 million viewers, up 18% from the show’s Season 1 average and doubling PBS’ primetime audience.

it is a great show! i really love it, and love to see oprah back on the air. so nice to have a network concerned with quality programming, cant wait for more episodes.
Yea, Oprah! You’re on the right track now.
Who care about Oprah real winner is Downton Abby boy was it back LOL!
I’m happy to see that Oprah’s show is doing well. I wish they would continue to do a “Season 25″ type of Behind The Scenes show featuring Oprah. For example, it would be cool to see a show about the creation of the OWN network. That “Season 25″ show was really terrific.
Downton Abbey came back big with some great writing and shocking moments. Maggie Smith continues to charm and deliver.
OWN floats from a great hour with Joel Osteen and insightful reflection from Jane Fonda to yet another show about clutter or shopping or more reality filler. The network needs more development.
It’s very simple…this network has her name on it and for all intensive purposes, she should be showing up and promoting the hell out of it and starring in a few shows as everything else on there is failing miserably. It would also be nice if she infused some more of her own money instead of mooching off Discovery Channel to fund this network.
Exactly how intensive are those purposes?
To the point of Oprah putting more of herself in OWN, why not just put her Oprah Winfrey Show back on the air on a daily basis?? She gave it her all in broadcast TV, and she was just “leasing” the show out to station’s across the country.
Now with her own network, why not be on everyday. Essentially, she’s doing The Oprah Winfrey Show on a weekly basis. Interviews with top talent and newsmakers. And yes, while she’s operating out of a studio, there are hundreds of shows from her syndication days, where she traveled to venues, homes, arenas where she did interviews. Fundamentally, no different than before.
The main difference here is on her very OWN, she’s only showing up once a week. Come on Oprah, you gave it your all in syndication, now give it every day on your network.
why doesn´t Oprah invests in quality shows like Downton Abbey? why more reality crap? She needs to be a lot more involved in this whole network simply put she needs to do a daily show for this channel to take off.
