Oxygen Media has tapped former OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network executive Rod Aissa as SVP Programming and Development. He will oversee all programming and development efforts at the network as well as shepherd new and existing series like The Next Big Thing and Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. Aissa will report to Oxygen president Jason Klarman and be based in New York; SVP Development Cori Abraham and VP Current Production Teri Kennedy report to him and the three will be charged with “finding new genres, new twists on existing formats and identifying talent that all speak directly to Oxygen’s ‘Live Out Loud’ brand philosophy” that targets young women. Before OWN, Aissa was EVP TV at Ashton Kutcher’s Katalyst Films, where he developed True Beauty for ABC. He also worked at MTV and was on the team that created and produced such unscripted hits like The Osbournes and Punk’d, helping to launch the careers of Kutcher as well as the likes of Jenny McCarthy and Carson Daly.

Great hire for Oxygen. They really needed to hire someone with talent like Rod to lead the charge. Hopefully he’ll be the missing piece that will give that place some success.
So again, an exec. Fails and gets hired based on failure. Good work.
Rod will be an excellent addition to this Network.
His thinking is young, fresh and relevant. He has a great eye for knowing what makes for great TV. A shot of energy for their future programming.
Best of success to him and Oxygen!
Ummm how about more LOVE GAMES, more JOEY PAGGI, more FREAKY J P, and more FAT TANISHA!!!! Oxygen reality is doing fantastic things; they just need to beef up the scripted.
I totally agree..more Joey Paggi and Love Games cast members!
This guy’s resume is the longest in Hollywood. I wonder where he will be come Summer 2012?
Rod is a great guy. he also pitched the Osbornes.
I take it back. This guy is rock solid. Can’t wait to see what he does at Oxygen.
hmm, battle of the big john’s see going on here. Rod doesn’t know how to return a call and is great at failing upward. great. stay tuned this summer for the next rod posting on deadline.com!
Good work Oxygen!! Rod is an amazing Executive, I have seen him in action and he is a true talent. I look forward to seeing the changes he makes!!
So did Rod leave OWN or was he asked to leave?
Rod didn’t create the Osbournes – it was spun off from like a Cribs episode or something.
How about a Love Games 3 reunion!
I was happy to see what Rod did with Jersey Couture once he landed at Oxygen. And yes – MORE LOVE GAMES!!!!!
