Paradigm owner Sam Gores just issued this internal memo about the addition of Electronic Dance Music to its music touring business. Below is the Gores memo, followed by the formal announcement:
I’m pleased to announce that AM Only, the largest and most respected Electronic Dance Music agency in the industry is joining the Paradigm family effective today. I want to personally welcome Paul Morris, the head of AM Only, and his talented team to Paradigm. Paul and his team personify the values that we hold dearly at Paradigm and we could not be prouder to be partnering with them.
This is another significant milestone for Paradigm. Electronic Dance Music is the fastest growing genre in the touring business and already a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide. I also want to thank Chip Hooper, Marty Diamond and Greg Bestick for the great work they did to make this significant deal a reality for us.
AM Only will keep their name and continue to operate out of their Brooklyn, NY offices. Paul Morris and his agents will be joining us at the next Paradigm Now meeting this coming Tuesday, January 17th and we will give you more details at that time. You can learn more about them at www.amonly.com
Thank you
Sam
And here is the release:
January 12, 2012 (Beverly Hills and New York)–Paradigm and AM Only, the premiere Electronic Dance Music agency, announced today that the two agencies are coming together.
The deal makes great strategic sense for both agencies as Paradigm puts itself into the burgeoning Electronic Dance Music business in a significant way, further defining the agency as an industry leader in music, while AM Only and its artists, who include many superstar DJ’s, will now have access and representation throughout the entire media and advertising spectrum including music, television, motion pictures, theatre, publishing, branding, commercials and endorsements.
AM Only will continue to operate from their Brooklyn, NY headquarters.
“I feel an affinity for the entrepreneurial spirit that Paradigm embodies,” said Paul Morris, CEO of AM Only. “Our clients operate within one of the hottest and fastest growing areas of music and we wanted a partner who had the knowledge and resources to help us take our clients’ careers to even greater levels of success. The reputations and track records of the Paradigm music executives and its chairman, Sam Gores, impressed me and made clear that they would be outstanding partners in this task.”
“We’re delighted to be joining forces with Paul Morris and AM Only” said Chip Hooper, Head of Paradigm’s Music Division. “They are long time leaders in this genre and they represent their clients with class and integrity.”
“This is a great fit for both of us,” said Marty Diamond, Head of East Coast Music for Paradigm. “Paul Morris and AM Only represent tremendous artists and we believe this new partnership will have significant benefits for everyone.”
“We have an extremely successful pattern of integrating cultures and businesses, allowing highly successful people to keep their strong identities and personnel intact and in every case this has led to substantial growth,” said Sam Gores, Paradigm Chairman and CEO.

No disrespect to AM Only, but….the current wave of electro-pop/bro-step is the real-estate housing bubble of the music industry.
Don’t get left holding the bag for a temporary scene, Paradigm. It’ll be a money-pit….and probably full of drugs.
Temporary…? Hmm, electronic dance music hit the pavement running about 30 years ago and hasn’t slowed down a bit. Kids are still getting hooked on this EDM stuff.
TRUE, genres will come and go, they always do. “Electro-pop” (which, by the way, was a genre from the 80′s and is now extinct) and “Bro-step” (-no comment-) are genres that have had their inception, replication, and in the future will make room for new Genre’s. BUT, dance music isn’t going away anytime soon. Have you heard of, um, Ibiza? or, um, Burning Man? or Shambhala? These are businesses that have been around form 10 or more years, and have just begun actually selling out. So many people want to be a part of this global movement and are willing to pay top dollar to do so. Do your research. Actually, just go to festival. AM Only is exactly who I would want to work with at that level.
everyone else in the electronic music biz will benefit from the wave while continuing to grow their more indie/underground acts, even if not everyone falls in that category. there aren’t too many guetta’s, tiesto’s, etc. out there also considering the time it took for them to reach the mainstream level they have here. the rest of the world is lightyears ahead of the US in this focus.
am only is a highly respected company and have a strong roster that brings in a sizable amount of cash. paradigm is cashing in on the trend just like william morris did when they launched their electronic division. only recently have the majors caught on, there’s been a number of strong boutique agencies worldwide. as far as the drugs goes…look the other way if it ain’t your thing, no different than any other scene in the music biz
CAA needs to step up to the plate. They already represent Daft Punk, arguably one of the best and most respected electronic acts.
I think for the artists that can not only DJ and produce but also score for film and tv (like Daft Punk/Tron; Oakenfold has done this; BT has scored a number of films as well) that will benefit most from these relationships
