BREAKING… EXCLUSIVE: Today at The X Factor there was a bloodbath which just claimed its biggest name. Not only are host Steve Jones and judge Nicole Scherzinger exiting from the Fox show, but now a Simon Cowell insider just told me that his longtime friend and American Idol colleague Paula Abdul won’t be returning as an X Factor judge next season. I understand from sources that none of the three left on their own accord and that it was cleaning house day at the so-so rated reality series. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any backlash against Simon because of Paula’s popularity.
Last April I revealed exclusively that Cowell, in addition to himself and ”L.A.” Reid, had made up his mind to bring back Paula beside him for X Factor‘s premiere season.
“I missed her the second she left (Idol),” Cowell told me at the time. “Always loved working with her even though she can be a pain. I don’t know what it is about her, but I’ve always clicked with her. You just have to get that chemistry, and she’s right. I’ve never found anyone better than her.” It took several months for her contract to be pinned down as she famously held out for more money, only closing her deal hours before the first televised audition. But Abdul added star power to the judging panel as she was the most famous person on the show behind only Cowell.
Earlier tonight, Fox confirmed the departures of both Scherzinger as a judge and Jones as host. The two, originally paired as co-hosts, had been considered the weakest links and likely casualties going into Season 2 after receiving mostly negative reviews for their performances last season. But my news that Abdul is out as well comes as a surprise given her long history with Cowell. With Abdul, Scherzinger and Jones gone, Cowell and L.A. Reid remain the only X Factor personalities from Season 1 to make it to Season 2. Cowell hinted at a major shakeup on the show last month when he was quoted as saying “We change these shows all the time.” Especially after The X Factor failed to live up to Cowell’s own expectations. He famously predicted an average audience of 20 million for the series’ first season. But in actuality, it drew 12.4 million. This are not the first cast changes on The X Factor. Original judge Cheryl Cole was let go after one taping, replaced by Scherzinger. Later on, Scherzinger and Abdul became embroiled in the controversy surrounding the shocking elimination of frontrunner Rachel Crow.

Nicole had to go. Even she didn’t know what she was saying during her critiques. She embarrassed herself every time she opened her mouth. Paula is almost as bad. How about Diana Ross? Miss Ross would take no bull and would know what she’s talking about.
All Simon had to do was hire Scooter Braun and show would have been perfect. Scooter is young, honest, brilliant, loyal, cool and real. Fans would love him. I hear ABC was smart enough to make a deal with him. SImon go beg Scooter, make your show cool
The show is horrible, as is American Idol without Simon and Paula. They need to return to Idol, as Lopez and Tyler added nothing to that show, which was just wonderful when it was Simon, Paula, and Randy.
The correct moves on all the firings. Just wish they would have gotten rid of L.A. as well. Now get rid of the loud background music also. Also no more big groups.
Still love Simon, I would say Regis as host, perhaps Mariah as a judge, and Miranda.
If Simon is smart, he’ll fire himself next.
I always failed to see how this crap was different from that other crap called American Idol.
Both shows are full of no talent hacks. I was hoping that instead of cover songs they’d make em write their own songs and compose em, but no, same old rehashed trash.
The problem with the show wasn’t the host, wasn’t the judges it was the over the top production of each number. Also had a problem with the judges competing against each other a current theme of the contest. I would mix it up so that the judges aren’t so protective of their “own” talent.
I agree, the mentoring aspect did not work for me. Made the judges partial to their talent. Didn’t like the groups, and most of all, did not like all the rappers. That is not music, in my opinion.
Paula was one of the few good apects of the show. Her firing just shows how chaotic and desperate the X-factor producers, not to mention the disloyalty of Simon Cowell.
Steve was ok as a host. Nicole had to go.
X-factor will be gone after Season Two. RIP.
It seriously is a good show don’t even like shows like these I don’t know why y’all are saying that
Some of you people are total idiots and should have been swallowed at birth. Its a tv show. It does not affect your life whatsoever.
Thank God for the “X-Factor,” a true gift to the desert of creativity, helping insure that the best talents in America will no longer go undiscovered and offering hope that a world suffering from a lack of mediocre singers will continue to have that void abundantly filled.
Now if Simon would only fire himself . . .
Time for Simon to fire himself, too.
I did not care for the show or all of them acting so fake to everyone.
I don’t care if they fire all of the judges because that still doesn’t solve the bigger problems with the show. #1 – Songs. Please stop singing the same exact songs we’ve heard on Idol for a decade! #2 The staging. I like the production values but please value the production and don’t just fire off confetti canons onto 32 back-up dancers in front of three 75 foot video screens just because you can! #3 Pre-recorded backing vocals. If this is a singing competition then why are we drowning them out? Also, why are the “back-up singers” lip synching?
Here’s a new panel – Simon, Ryan Tedder, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey.
Janet vs Mariah? What a hot mess that would be.
Should have kept Paula. Bad mistake to let her go. She was the heart of both judging panels she was on.
Get rid of rap music as it’s not singing. Including it cost a lot of viewers. It has it’s place somewhere but not with singers.
Better get someone who’s respected in the field to judge. Cher would be a excellent choice, as would Barbra Streisand. How about a male on the panel who knows how to sing? Prince would be a home run!
Good luck, as it’s going to be needed.
I agree I think the show was awesome, second season will bring more
audience.
One of the most dreadful shows I have ever seen, the whole fake acting, trying to diss each other, even Paula and Simons “magic” wasn’t there.
Goodbye x factor, you never had the x
The show has already been renewed but I doubt it’ll get a Season 3. It will fall hard next season and Simon will most likely beg FOX to give him a job at American Idol again.
Good riddance to that boorish, boring and dorky Steve Jones! My god that guy was useless! Too bad Abdul is leaving though. She is very classy and lends an aire of legitimacy to a show that I’ll watch again though with great skepticism.
after I found out they were lip singing…that was it for me….
It was uplifting often BUT IT WENT IN FOREEEEVER. Two hours for a gazillion wks. A death march. Glad Nicole Sherz wont b bk She just bugged me to bits. Who is she anyway?
Oh, and I wasn’t going to watch anyway. Between Nicole’s megalomania and the painfully politically correct “judging” I just couldn’t take it.
Feel bad for Josh, if he were african american and female he would have won, it wasn’t about talent, again…..that’s it for moi!
Steve Jones was annoying. The screaming audience (producer-induced) while the judges spoke was beyond annoying. The talent in the top 5 was better than anything Idol has had in years.
I really dislike the way X-Factor mirrors American Idol. Much to much hype all around. Plus, please tell me why this “Astro” was permitted to NOT sing, but to just rap? I hope I never have to watch him again. Frankly, I think I will just watch the results shows since most of the competition shows are filled with hype and teasers. Overall, X-Factor is pretty bad. — This is just my opinion. I could be wrong. — Ed Hartwell, Veteran, Voter, Citizen, and an American for America
