It would be an awesome acheivement if JJ could pull off Mirror Universe Star Trek. Since they have not made any movies about the long term Mirror Universe, it would be a perfect project for JJ. I would personally be delighted if he did evil Emporer Kirk for this movie. Then have a movie for Rise Like Lions, where they have the Mirror Universe Next Generation crew and Memeory Omega.
No they NEED shatner in one last movie!!! hes still in good shape for being 80!!!!!! he could def pull off another run. Question is does he want to?
Also i wish they would go easy on the makeup lol they tend look like Gay MAC employees!
Computer, freeze program!
klingons would be good… although I think that should come later. I would LOVE to see them do a movie about Kudos the Executioner. After all it was the battle against Kudos that set Kirk up to be catapulted into captaincy as the youngest Starfleet officer to ever hold that rank.
This new Star Trek Movie Which to me was introduced by Mr. Leonard Nimoy the Original Spock Who played ambassador Spock in the Movie he will not be in this one He is retiring his Vulcan ears. Or so he says He ‘ll be appearing at Star trek conventions if money talks loud enough for him This next movie does leave many unanswered questions Such as Did Vulcan people find a new planet to settled? yes there are many other Stories that Kirk Spock McCoy can explore The Borg can be introduced? Plus, when the first Enterprise ( The Enterprise NX-1 ) came to be Was Captain Jonathan Archer in Charge? now we also have RoboCop – Peter Weller what character will he play? Alice Eve she could be the Borg Queen? There is so many life altering stories I hope this success does follow this one as it did the last one. i have something to look forward too. Plus this year is Anniversaries years 50 years of James Bond 007 25 years of Star Trek- The Next Generation 35 years of the first” Star Wars Episode IV” 20 years of Star Trek- Deep Space Nine and 15 years of Star Trek- Voyager It’s also 30 years of Star Trek movie- Wrath of Khan.
I hope it’s in standard “D” as well cause I can’t see well in 3D, it hurts my eyes. People need to realize not everyone can view movies in 3D
The last ST movie really seemed like a rehash of Khan plot-wise, right down to the force feeding of a parasitic brainworm to a secondary character. And I have to agree about the no cameo of original cast rule. If you’re out to re-invent the franchise on the big screen, and your going to bring back something, bring back another memorable villan or alien or unstopable killing machine like..say..”The Planet Killer”!
Star Trek is one of the few or only sci-fi story that has a positive future for humans, which includes all races. Looking past the outward appearances of each and looking into the essence of mankind to understand life, pushes the audience of all countries to admire and desire such a future. If people would watch the original Star Treks from the 60’s, they will find moderate sci-fi effects ( good at the time) but stories that dealt with many social issues and also introduced a future where people of all races joined to become a culture that admired each other’s differences and searched to understand the universe. Next Generation and Deep Space 9 both had the same theme, however, DS9 focused more on family, culture, and conflicts that reflected societies problems that Earth still face. People who argue that Star Trek is not international are those who are looking at entertainment fans rather than fans of the heart of Star Trek. The new Star Trek brought to the big screen stars that helped bring in a new generation of viewers. Many like the actors more than the plot. But the underlining message is that people on this planet can live and work together, respecting each other, and striving to understand life here and beyond. Now the challenge is can we embrace our differences and boldly go where no human has gone before.
am i the only one who thinks they should do a movie with the jonathan archer era???
Abrams ruined TOS, gutting out the entire back-story and history that had been established 40 years ago. Spock’s mother Amanda: dead. Lt. Kirk’s first assignment on the Farragut: gone. Abrams could have made a half dozen films using the existing established back stories. Instead, he wiped it all out. Is his vision better? Doubtful.
It’s science fiction! It’ll always struggle…that is until it comes true! The CG techniques made the latest ST successful…the old TV series was laughable but entertaining in it’s time. The Voyager series was generally, far more adventurous with some science behind it. A follow-up? That’s difficult because we’ve already seen what they can do, technically and it was spectacular…it’ll rely more on a good storyline in this one.
Star Trek 2009 is a great film because it relaunched and rebranded the franchise. The characters have always been great. The newer cast did things that were not possible in the 60′s through 80′s. It would be interesting for Chris Pine’s Kirk to run into Harry Mudd or Gangster Bela Oxmyx at Sigma Iotia II to collect a “piece of the action” on a routine stop through a quadrant of space.
STOP already with the “lens flare” comments. Abrams’ style added drama and excitement to this re-boot movie. It took us back to a grittier time when space wasn’t as tame and the star ships were a place of work and not luxury cruise liners like TNG. When I go to the movies, I want to be moved emotionally and leave knowing I have experienced something special. Abrams style does just that! What it all gets down to is this, we all like to see things blow up but it’s the storyline and chemistry between the characters that keeps us coming back. And one last thing, don’t let the story lines become soap-operas. However immoral, the Kirk love-em and leave-em was better than the Uhura and Spock thing. Besides, it was nurse Chappel(sp?) that had the crush on Spock.
I’m disappointed Jim Parsons will not play Spock! Maybe next sequel
