ABC’s yet-unscheduled Cougar Town should start warming up. The network’s cross-dressing comedy Work It (1.6/4) took a 20% dive in its second airing, pretty much sealing the fate of the critically panned series. Its lead-in, Last Man Standing (2.2/6), was down 8% from last week to tie its season low. At 9 PM, Celebrity Wife Swap (2.1/5) was flat, while Body Of Proof (1.6/4) perked up 7%.
CBS’ NCIS (4.1/11) was even with last week. NCIS: LA (3.4/8) was down 3%, while Unforgettable (2.2/6) dropped 15% to tie its series low. CBS (3.2/8 in 18-49, 16.3 million total viewers) won the night in 18-49 and total viewers, dominating every hour of primetime. NBC’s The Biggest Loser (2.4/6) was flat, while Parenthood (1.8/5) was up 6%. Fox aired reruns.

Work It did not start until 8:33, so I think its final 18-49 demo number will be less than 1.6.
I only want them to bring back COUGAR TOWN if it’s in the proper time slot with the proper advertising. I am absolutely sick at the way ABC has treated that show. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I think there was something going on with that… You don’t just bench a Courtney Cox sitcom. Hopefully when it comes back the ratings will be back to where they were or better. But, the realist in me is a tad worried…
ABC just has no idea what they’re doing at all.
Here in NC, the CBS shows were pre-empted, starting at 9, to make way for ACC hoops (Death to UNC). That hurt their ratings.
I’m in NC as well, and I’d be willing to bet that CBS had much higher ratings here from all of the Tar Heel bandwagoners tuning in to see the game.

Primetime was pretty much dead in the Boston market as all coverage was on the New Hampshire primary.

If you’re panning the show because you think it’s horrible then I stand by my statement. If you’re an avid watcher and you’ve been up to date with how their audience feels about what they’ve done with the show and the people they’ve had on it then I think I understand what you’re trying to say and I agree.

Work It works it-MUCH better than overrated lame-assed Cougar Town, which isnt even the same show as was its original intention and how the first 6 or so eps were. That show should be benched, PERMANENTLY, and open up a regular spot for Work It, which is funny as shiite!

What about the blind demographic? They seem to be the ones the show is targeted at since there’s no way someone that can look at this mess can keep watching.
I’m with you! Cougar Town is full of jokes and references I don’t understand. “Work It” is awesome because it has hairy guys in dresses and the laugh track lets me know when something is funny.
Seriously? We’re debating the merits of “Cougar Town” and “Work it”? And then blaming the Raleigh-Durham television audience for a ratings dip? Newsflash: these morning ratings NEVER include Raleigh-Durham. There are as many Nielsen homes in the Carolinas as there are people with full sets of teeth.
Besides, can anyone legitimately and honestly defend either of these shows at being worthy of air time? And with that, I’ve invited the writing staffs of these two shows to pretend their value.
Happy to see both Parenthood & Body of Proof up in ratings. I watch both shows. Parenthood is truly excellent, and Body of Proof is good. I hope both will return next season with full seasons.
Work It is just about finished…one or two more poorly-rated episodes and it’s over with. ABC should put Cougar Town into the slot while they have a spot remaining in the lineup to do just that. What a shitty program this is.
