HBO’s ‘Luck’ Renewed For Second Season
Showtime’s Sunday lineup rebounded after facing the NFC Championship Game the previous week. Both Shameless (1.37 million) and House Of Lies (1.02 million) drew their largest audiences since the season premieres. Shameless was up 7% from the previous week, House Of Lies 41%. At 9 PM, Shameless, which was originally set up at HBO, outdelivered the official premiere of HBO’s Luck (1.1 million) by 29%. (This was not the first airing of Luck‘s pilot episode, which was previewed after the Boardwalk Empire season finale last month.) At 10:30 PM, Californication (748,000) was up 17% from the previous week.
Over at Bravo, The Real Housewives Of Atlanta hit a Season 4 high with 3.95 million viewers, the second-most-watched episode ever for the Real Housewives franchise behind the Atlanta Season 3 finale — which the Season 4 closer will likely surpass. Also hitting a season high was Watch What Happens Live (1.6 million).

Showtime is the best network on television, hands down
That’s laughable, their only good show is Homeland, the rest goes from horrible to watchable. HBO, AMC, even FX are far superior.
Agree with Kopmi here, though I also like “Call Girl.” Don’t think Showtime can take credit for that, though.
Uh, are you forgetting about Dexter, the absolute best show on TV period? Shameless is an amazing show as well. Californication is better, and funnier than ANY comedy HBO has ever had. The new show they have, House of Lies is really good as well. The L Word was great. Brotherhood was good. United States of Tara was one of the most original shows ever. Nurse Jackie is a great dramedy. Episodes is good and original. Tudors was just epic, and The Borgias is following in those same steps. Weeds was great but has gotten stale over the last couple of seasons. Homeland is great, I think we agree there but you are WAY off base saying Homeland is their only good show.
“House of Lies” is the best show to hit the airwaves since “Mad Men” and “30 Rock”. An instant classic. Fantastic work, and keep it up!

Shameless & House of Lies have been fantastic this year; both very funny. I’m surprised how much I’ve enjoyed House of Lies, which I figured was going to be very poor, turned out to be one of those things that killed.. and ANY manager at any company that has ever called in business consultants gets that icky feeling watching.. very few things as funny as watching all the middle management “this ERP will destroy our business!” bwahahahah
Shameless over Luck…no surprise whatsoever.
I was surprised with how little promotion HBO gave Luck. I actually heard about the show for the first time the night before it premiered.
David Milch has to be wondering what he has done to the network’s PR department that they hate his show.
To all the those who posted, let me ask you a question – who pays their talent more, HBO or Showtime?
Showtime does not pay their talent as well as HBO.
