EXCLUSIVE: Bill Myers, president and chief operating officer of Starz Entertainment and Starz Media, suddenly resigned today after a decade at the premium cable company. He was responsible for all day-to-day operations including affiliate sales, marketing, public relations, worldwide television distribution, engineering, and IT for Starz Entertainment and Starz Media, the two divisions of Starz, LLC. A holdover from the previous regime,
for the past 2 years he reported to Starz, LLC President and CEO Chris Albrecht, who took over the company in 2010. “Bill has contributed greatly in driving Starz’s growth and success,” Albrecht said. “We are enormously grateful for his 10 years of service and wish him well in his future endeavors.” Myers joined Starz Entertainment in May 2002 and served as EVP and CFO of Starz Entertainment and was promoted to president and COO of the company in August 2006. He assumed the additional title at Starz Media in July 2008.

Albrecht has forced out every single Starz executive who pre-existed him, many of whom were directly responsible for bringing him in. In turn he has busily hired many of his old HBO cadre so that now Starz exec team resembles 1990s HBO…
Sounds like a winning plan. And I’m pretty sure they brought him in with the very same notion.
What “notion” is that? ‘Lets hire this guy so that one day he can fire all of us”
Albrecht is such a total sleaze. I expect him to fully implode someday without warning.
Isn’t this an effort to evade paying tax on any shares he owns in the company. It’s my understanding that if you own shares in a company and sell them short of the ten year window, you are entitled to tax break, at least here in California.
Chris Albrecht is a terrible leader and only likes to work with people who agree with him. Extremely pathetic!
Bill is an awesome guy. Whatever he does next will be great.
Bill Myers was just lazy, did not do much and was very similar to his old boss, Bob Clasen. They both never got along with Albrecht and worked hard to undermine him with the executives at Liberty. I agree with the point that Albrecht is a ruthless sleaze who is just out for himself. But, when compared to those two, at least Chris is a ruthless sleaze who actually does things, like getting Boss on the air. Myers is just collateral damage because he retired in his job two years ago.
