EXCLUSIVE: In its first pilot pickup in more than an year, Syfy has given the green light to Rewind, an action thriller from feature writer Justin Marks, BermanBraun and Universal Cable Prods. Rewind, which has received an order for a two-hour pilot, revolves around a team of military field operatives and civilian scientists who must use untested technology to travel back in time to alter past events in order to change the future and avoid a devastating terrorist attack. Marks wrote the script and will executive produce the pilot with veteran showrunner Tom Spezialy (Chaos), Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein. This marks Syfy’s first original pilot order since the 2010 duo of Alphas and Three Inches, one of which, Alphas, went to series and has been renewed for a second season. Like Rewind, Alphas hails from BermanBraun and UCP. “We couldn’t be happier to be back in business with BermanBraun,” said Mark Stern, Syfy’s president of original content. “Justin Marks has created a time-travel series with an exciting innovative approach that really exemplifies Syfy’s commitment to bring compelling storytelling to life.” Production on Rewind is set to begin in April. The order for Rewind comes after an extensive script review process at Syfy, which explored different scenarios, including ordering projects as limited series in the vein of AMC’s pickup of The Walking Dead, before settling on a 2-hour order for early frontrunner Rewind. In addition to Alphas and Three Inches, Syfy’s only pilot pickup was the Battlestar offshoot Blood & Crome, which remains in contention. Marks is with CAA and Madhouse.

ISn’t someone doing a series based on Source Code?
Yes – CBS. So don’t hold your breath it will get the greenlight or much hope that it wouldn’t just be a warmed-over procedural if it did.
Source Code is a television series? Awesome.
Hmmm. Could be interesting, I suppose — though from the description, it also sounds somewhat similar to the UPN series Seven Days from some years back.
Sounds similar to quantum leap and source code. Liked them both so it should be good.
Source Code?
Booster Gold can “rewind” through history too, Syfy. Pick up Booster!
Will it be a single-universe series? A.k.a. going back and killing Hitler prior to 1933 has a profound impact on the current timeline; or a multiverse series where killing Hitler has no effect whatsoever on our universe’s timeline but makes the people running the time machine feel better about themselves. Or will they just lay on the bullshit and avoid any consequences (such as causality) of time travel not relating to the plot of individual episodes.
I know, right?! I hope that they don’t ignore the science of time travel and sweep issues of multiverse causality under the rug in favor of some stupid, made up plot line.
My money is on bullshit. (The safest of safe bets.)
Love this idea. I know everyone has tried to crack the time travel idea recently – Justin marks can do it.
I liked Sliders.
The concept sounds like a show that actually belongs on the network formerly known as SciFi.
Already watched this when it was called “Seven Days” on UPN.
Ummmmm “TIME TUNNEL”!!!
