EXCLUSIVE: My insiders say there’s finally an agreement tonight between Keith Olbermann and Current TV giving him ”carte blanche” to plan and program the channel’s 2012 election coverage. But the truce doesn’t come in time for Olbermann to do the entire 4-hour block of New Hampshire primary coverage this Tuesday night. Current TV this week wouldn’t give its chief news officer/controversial liberal commentator the time slot, then on Friday night agreed, then refused, and now is blinking yet again. I told you this was going to seesaw throughout the weekend. (See my previous, Will Keith Olbermann Control All Election Coverage On Current TV?)

I want a “TOLDJA” t-shirt – love it. Question one: what is Current TV? Question two: Olbermann is an idiot no matter what party you belong to. To think he’s running political coverage for some sec– fourth rate cable channel – have fun.
I like Keith. He’s incredibly smart, but I’m quite frankly surprised his head can fit through a door. That guy needs to get his ego in check. I lose respect for what he says, (which is always right on) because his words don’t match up with who he is.
Agree with main points. But is it ego, I wonder? Or is it rather very deep insecurity? He feels too much the wrath of his critics and one can only be affected if they genuinely feel lacking in some respect. Anyhoo. I’m happy he was able to fend off this disaster in the making. Dearest Keith: some therapy please. With affection.
Sounds like Olberman has the same issue that the entire Democratic Party does.
Yes, indeed! LOL!
And this from a loyal (God only knows) Dem.
And the frothing-at-the-mouth Keith Olbermann haters will start posting in 4… 3… 2…
Do you mean his current or former employers?
1…0….Olbermann is a loonatic! He left NBC because they said to him that they were going to make him their Jim Nantz! But NBC Sports couldn’t put up with his looney crap and sent him back to MSNBC….and I hate him
Oh boy, that’s exciting news. Tell me again – who is going to be watching any sort of election coverage on Current TV? The guy is a cockroach.
America prefers to get its election coverage from Fox News – where all the candidates know they can land a pundit job after they lose.
America wants to get news from a channel featuring a man who cost the company millions for his uninvited phone sex calls to a producer. The man who implied he’d give a police department a fat check if they do an all purpose IA investigation on the cop who stole his wife. The man who attacks people with umbrellas for fear of being stalked while he sends his producers to stalk others.
I love Keith doing sports. I would gladly pay to see him and Dan Patrick team up again and do a nightly sports show. I would gladly pay an HBO price for one hour a night. So, no more news…I’m pretty sure there would be others paying that same price just to get him out of news. It would be win/win!
I don’t get Current so I have to jump through bit torrent hoops to watch KO.
It’s worth it.
Without question Countdown is the only nightly newsie show that is must see for me.
I love all the sturm & drang.
What’s he wearing?
On the set?
No Set?
All of it.
For you civilians out there h8ting on ole KO know this: just about everyone on your TV is an Asshole.
Normal well-adjusted people are boring on TV.
But an Ahole is strangely fascinating for an hour even though they are on their best behavior.
So is KO one?
Absolutely.
So What!
Countdown is must see TV.
As for Current…You guys mortgaged your future to KO.
You might as well surrender.
He’ll survive.
Current?
All four members of Keith’s audience and Joey are happy with this news. In the real world the question remains “What is Current and where in the world is Carmen Keith Obermann?”>
Ohhh THAT wil be non-partisan!!!! Current TV obviously desperate for #’s. Their ratings will tell the whole story.
He was great as a LA sports guy. Should have stayed there.
Keith moves the needle. Bottom line.
A very smart move for Current. Keith is the network’s core personality. Without him, they have a weak slot on the dial, and nothing more…they are SD, essentially unrated, with only his show on the air. To pretend otherwise is a flirtation with oblivion.
they hired him to run that freaking channel… let him do it… freaking idiots… everyone wants power… it’s been the same story throughout his career… sportscenter… msnbc… he builds them… they take credit… he goes…
here at least he has an ownership stake
The only reason many viewers watch Current is Keith Olbermann. It was very smart PR for their election coverage to create all this ruckus. People are more likely to tune in because of it.
What a farce. Olbermann and Current concocted this mess simply to get publicity. A sure sign of desperation.
Keith Oberman is the Kim Kardashian of politics.
Minus the intellect.
This will be an improvement for Current. Their Iowa caucus coverage was HORRENDOUS! Cenk Uygur (?) couldn’t anchor his way out of a wet paper bag. Al Gore was his usual wooden self. Gov. Granholm wasn’t much better. Gave up after a few minutes and went over to CNN.
I loved how all the MSNBCers enjoy bashing Fox News for bias when MSNBC had Keith Olbermann (all Republicans are “worst people in the word”) anchoring its 2008 convention/election coverage as a “news anchor.” That would be like Fox having Bill O’Reilly anchor it (they didn’t; Brit Hume, former WH correspondent, anchored election coverage). Not saying that Fox is “fair and balanced,” but MSNBC was its mirror-image. As a newsman and anchor, Keith was a buffonish hack who embarrased himself with his “Worst Person in the World” antics. He would be ideal for an opnion show, but absolutely terrible as a straight-up reporter and news anchor. His antics in that capacity drew public criticism from Tom Brokov—deservedly, as Olberbmann is a stain on NBC’s news repuation.
