USA Network’s longest-running series on the air, dramedy Psych, is extending its run. It has been renewed for a 16-episode seventh season that will premiere later this year. In a first, the news was broken by the series’ stars James Roday and Dulé Hill in a video on Psych‘s Facebook page and Twitter feed, which was unlocked by solving a puzzle with clues revealed throughout the day. “We are always trying to find ways to reward our Psych brand ambassadors for their loyalty and passion and social media plays a critical role in how we connect with the people who matter most — the fans,” USA co-presidents Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel said. The recent 2011 portion of Psych‘s sixth season averaged 2.31 million viewers among adults 18-49 and 1.22 million adults 18-34 in Live+7, both series highs. The show returns with the conclusion of Season 6 on February 29. Psych is executive produced by creator Steve Franks, director Mel Damski, Bill Callahan, Kelly Kulchak and Chris Henze, from Universal Cable Prods in association with Tagline Pictures.

Awesome news.My favorite show on a network of great shows. I love Shawn and Gus
put the show is out of it’s misery
Yay, underrated show.
I am a long time Psych-O! So glad to know that a fun and entertaining show is getting the recognition it deserves. Can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for Shawn Spencer and his parnter John Jacob Jingley-Schmidt next season!
Yay! This show always brightens my day.
Worst show ever in the history of television. Worst actor’s, worst writing, and the worst production I have ever seen.
So delighted – vastly under-rated show.
We can’t wait! When does it start? My granddaughter and I laugh so much we cry with Gus and Shawn! I hope his dad is. It dead. We watch the re-runs all day Saturdays!
Great show and I’m Psyched knowing it’s returning. Those that shared their dislike for Psych have no clue (get it) about the show and are simply jealous because they don’t have hair like Shawn; they have no rhythm what-so-ever and are not suave like Gus; they can’t act but wished to God they could; they don’t have a beautiful girlfriend who doesn’t have to be pretentious as Jules really is intelligent, she can act and she’s blonde!; etc, etc.
I loved the USA network, shows like “The Dead Zone” and watched “Monk” from day one to the end. But this Psych series falls in line with “The Big Bang Theory”. It reminds me of some Stephen Kings works “Amityville 4″ The Lamp that had a hot temper. I can understand why the push button guys at USA paired it up with Monk. This is because if it wasn’t no one would know it was on. I watch Psych once and that was enough! I am not sorry to hear it is gone. Put the air time in better use, “infomercials”?
i want to see shawn to a take on “tonight is the night” (outasight),what fun that would be to work into an episode!hint usa network!
kaahrl
I don’t think one episode could possibly be telling of a series of nearly 100. Watch more! Of course, if you don’t like comedies, which is more what this show is about, then don’t watch it. And to Fred, may I direct you to the film “The Room”? Now THAT is what bad acting looks like.
