EXCLUSIVE: We’ve seen the last of MTV’s animated comedy Good Vibes as the cable network has opted not to pickup a second season of the series created by David Gordon Green. The decision came after weeks of conversations between MTV and Good Vibes producers about ways to keep the show alive. One potential scenario discussed involved pairing the animated comedy with MTV’s breakout live-action comedy Awkward for extra sampling. For its freshman run, Good Vibes aired in a block with Beavis And Butt-Head despite being far more female-skewing than the revival of Mike Judge’s 1990s animated staple. In the end, despite their faith in the Good Vibes‘s creative direction and its auspices, MTV brass felt that the series didn’t attract a broad enough audience to justify another season. Beavis & Butt-Head and Good Vibes premiered against Game 6 of the World Series in October, drawing 3.3 million and 1.6 million viewers, respectively. It is a bitter-sweet ending for Good Vibes, which still ran a season longer than anyone expected. The project, developed at Warner Bros. TV through Tom Werner’s studio-based Good Humor TV production company, was first given a pilot presentation order by Fox in 2008, with Adam Brody, Alan Tudyk, Danny McBride, Debi Mazar, Jake Busey, Josh Gad and Olivia Thirlby as the voice cast. Fox ultimately passed, which should’ve been the end of the road but Good Vibes producers didn’t give up, and in 2010 the animated comedy received a series order at MTV. Even the entire voice cast came back. As for Good Vibes‘ companion Beavis & Butt-head, conversations about its future are still ongoing.

Please bring it back!Such a good show.

I literally just did the same thing.
same!
i agree i was stuck after the 1st show on netflix every buddy iv introduced to good vibes was addicted pleas bring it back
Same!
Me Too It Sucks That It Got Cancelled
That is the exact thing that happened to me. Bring this show back! So fuuuuuuckkkings epic! Best stonermatterial evvvvvvvvah
Love good vibes so funny please don’t give up on it
best show I have ever seen . Found it on netflex. Never knew it existed until now!!!!
Such a shame!, was a good in some ways a lot better than beavis an butthead but i think it would of suited a much younger audience as B&B was from another gen
MTV really messed up not picking this up. One of the funniest shows of 2011. I hope it can maybe find another home (Im looking at you Comedy Central).
i agree
Better be CC that will take them.
I’m sure the demo downloaded the shit out of it.
That’s fine, just don’t cancel B&B. The show is right up there with Jon Stewart, Colbert, and South Park as the greatest social satire of our time. It is better, and more relevant today than it was a decade ago. Give it time to catch on to a new generation of viewers.
Great show – Not enough PROMOTION.
I mistakenly watched an episode and wondered why I’ve never heard of it before. MTV should have promoted the show better.
Such a smart, fun, raunchy, and hilarious show. The Simpsons for a new generation. Great show not many people got to hear about. No promotion, no reruns?
I agree with John the Cable Guy — it was definitely short-sighted of MTV to cut it loose so quickly. It had the viewership, it had the fans, and there’s no reason it wouldn’t grow after a strong first season. It’s a shame.
David Gordon Green is the man! He’ll rebound with something even better! MTV’s loss. Hope they bring Good Vibe’s to Comedy Central!
What?
In fairness, I only saw one episode.
But what I saw was amateur hour terrible in the most uncomfortably pathetic way — even for MTV.
It was a great show super funny! Its getting a second run on the Comedy network in Canada so they should do the same in America and then they should renew it there for 2nd season!
They should bring back The Brothers Grunt. Great show, ahead of it’s time.
GET OUT!!! I totally love that show! They need to bring it back and do some decent promotions. Funny as hell and had so many great actors. I am really starting to give up on that channel ;(
wow! this show was really bad. the jokes weren’t funny and it just felt like dumb sophomoric humor. I would suggest hiring better writers next time. It seems many animated shows face the same problem. Allen Gregory, Napoleon Dynamite–I would say that Unfiltered will suffer the same fate. It takes experience and a good crew to come up with something like Bob’s Burgers which was funny, gained a fanbase and got the ratings. Everyone thinks animation is easy–it’s not–I’ve been in the industry 10 years and have seen many shows come and go for 1 season and many pilots that never even get seen. Even Beavis and Butthead–after 10 years–can still be funny–although the jokes seems the same and one track–but it does have it’s fans. At least FOX has greenlit many anim pilots in the last year–but it takes a great crew, showrunner, and writers to pull off a hit.
Are you freakin kidding me??? Bob’s Burgers being better than good vibes??
This is just what MTV does best when it comes to animation. They love to cancel cartoons.
I was so excited when B n B came back to Mtv and good vibes was an added bonus. I looked forward to both on thurs nights..fianally somthing funny to watch unlike all the crappy reality junk Mtv calls shows. Oh n B n B actually had music videos which is somthing I havnt seen on Mtv in forever..
well it’s clear now that MTV isn’t interested in bringing back the audience that made them famous in the first place. So bring back the 19th season of Jersey Shore guys, I guess once you get rich enough you stop taking any sort of risk whatsoever.
Horrendous show glad it was nixed.
None of my friends heard of this show until I showed them an episode last week now they all watch it. Spread the word of good vibes its to f’n hilarious for it to disappear!
Thats really a shame, mtv is getting worse every year. The only reason i still watch mtv is for teen mom, and jersey shore.
Totally disappointed this show is cancelled………it was super cute…..
I need Good Vibes and Beavis and Butthead to live…
This is a horrible tragedy and a gigantic mistake on MTV’s behalf. I really really hope that another network with vision picks this show back up.
Good Vibes is a great show with a unique sense of humor that managed to be funny without relying solely on ‘shock value; something that is rare in today’s new style of animated comedy shows. I hope that MTV will either reconsider or some other network will pick it up for a second season.
GOOD VIBES!
MTV how could you, I love that show.
