EXCLUSIVE: Chuck alum and former Superman Brandon Routh, Elizabeth Regen and Lucy Davis have joined Michael Urie and Sophia Bush in the cast of CBS’ half-hour pilot Partners. The multicamera comedy, from Will & Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, centers on lifelong friends and business partners —architects Charlie, who is straight, and Louis (Urie), who is gay. Routh, repped by UTA and Main Title, will play Louis’ steady partner, a former alcoholic, club-hopping model, now a sober, vegan nurse. Regen will play Ro-Ro, Charlie and Louis’ colorful assistant. Brit Davis, who starred on the original British version of The Office, will play Renata, droll bookkeeper for Charlie’s fiancé Ali ( Bush), a jewelry boutique owner. Routh has worked with Kohan and Mutchnick before – he guest starred in an episode of their multicamera NBC hit Will & Grace.

It only took six years after “Superman” for Brandon Routh to find a steady acting job. Did his agent hate him?

I was happy for him to land SOMETHING he is such a cutie pie but THIS : ( I guess he had no choice but to grasp at the straws of this BEEN THERE DONE THAT story… The cast line up are all unknowns with the exception of Sophia Bush (who is sweet but need to learn the craft. Elizabeth Regen? Who? Oh CBS you can do So much better!! Here is an idea take on more female writers now they can produce some hilarious originals not this take off of WILL AND GRACE ugggg you can totally tell by the cast they are just happy to get a job. Hoping this doesnt get out of Pilot..
I am pretty sure this cast is just happy to have jobs ANYJOB! Searched them out and with the exception of SOPHIA BUSH the rest are boring and untalented and have not worked much at all. PLEASE CBS I want to believe it you but WILL & GRACE was a masterpiece that can not and should not be recreated. LETS GET SOME FEMALE WRITERS ON BOARD they can create “funny” and “entertaining”!!
Wow, Lucy Davis is a great actress and I loved her in “Shaun of the Dead, but she’s 39 and playing a role for a twenty-something.
Sophia Bush (who is a young looking 29 year old playing a role slated for a thirty-something) is playing her boss. It may be that the network is trying to play up the awkwardness of an older woman working for a younger woman…
Or maybe they have no idea what they are doing.
Chalk it up to “They have no idea what they are doing” that and I guess they had to offset the casts payroll with one talent vs. 5 unknowns to fit into their miniscule budget? Sophia being the only talent. How many times can you say boring.

This is great news!! Love Brandon on Chuck and of course as Superman Clark/Kent–he IS this generations Superman–no need to see the stinker reboot without Brandon. Happy to see him on a series and wish him continued success.
This generation’s Superman is Cavill and it’s Clark Kent is Welling.
Routh was Superman for less than 2 hours, then he was done. Blink and you missed it. You have a strange definition of “generation”.

Can I just state the obvious…Routh is gorg and talented and deserves the chance to show show another side beyond tights. Having said that – please put him in tights.

I think he looks hot! You must be an ugly person inside and out to feel that the only thing to say about these actors good fortune is a criticism of their looks.
Brandon Routh is a poor mans Christopher Reeve. He is Christopher Reeve without all of Reeve’s charm and acting ability and physicality.
Agreed. Routh is completely inert on screen and lacks charisma.
It’s good to see that Warner Bros. unfortunate decision to recast the role of “Superman” and reboot the franchise hasn’t sent Brandon’s acting career a fatal blow. A bad script and sloppy direction from Bryan Singer were the blame for “Superman Returns’” not meeting expectations at the box office. Brandon Routh eerily channeled the late Christopher Reeve and I admire the fact that he respected the man who embodied the character for many of us. I’ll be watching the show.

Agreed, Aaron. I always said Routh was trapped in a bad movie re: Superman Returns. He got a bad rap IMO.

Congrats to the producers for figuring out how to exactly repackage the same show they previously made. As Louis B. Mayer once said: “give me the same thing, only different.”
This is good news. This show has an excellent premise and with James Burrows’s direction, this will be a mile-stone in network Television. Following Modern Family, this will be another good situational comedy, not just featuring, but really following a normal gay man. I will be watching.

Sub bar B level acting cast. Rough has looks no talent sme for Sophia ; ( & who is Elizabeth Regen? I googled her and anything she played a part of was short lived prior to cancellation. Lucy Davis is the only hopeful but can she pull this cast from a pilot to a sitcom??
Brandon Routh will NAIL this role. It is basically a hybrid of his characters in Scott Pilgrim and Zach and Miri Make a Porno.
