EXCLUSIVE: The X-Files creator Chris Carter has signed with CAA. Carter had been a longtime client of Bob Broder, first at BWCS and most recently at ICM following the agencies’ 2006 merger. After a decade away from TV, Carter last fall teamed with MRC to shop female-driven mystery thriller spec Unique, which ultimately didn’t sell. He is attached as an executive producer to another spec, written by feature scribe Jon Bokenkamp, which is being shopped to cable networks by Sony TV. In addition to The X-Files, which ran on Fox for 9 seasons, Carter developed Harsh Realm, created Millennium and co-created the X-Files spinoff The Lone Gunmen. Since The X-Files ended its run in 2002, Carter has stayed largely out of the spotlight, only resurfacing to do the 2008 X-Files movie sequel and the upcoming thriller Fencewalker. There has been talk recently about a potential third X-Files movie.

Frankly, I’d be glad to see anything he comes up with. It would be nice to see a proper x-files sendoff at some point, but if he gets another unrelated series going, I’d love to see that, too. He’s a brilliant writer, for the most part (certain aspects of Harsh Realm and I Want to Believe notwithstanding) Everything he’s done has always been so different from everything else out there. That’s why many of us watch his stuff, but it’s also why he has trouble selling some of them to the networks.
I wish Millinium would come back, I feel that Lance was superb as the tireless and insightful Frank Black, I agree this was Chris Carter’s gem. On a side note, has anyone noticed the similarity between the musical score of “Game of Thrones” and Millinium?
The sybilline grimoires of Chris Carter should incorporate with the Byzantine pantheons of David Lynch, and administer a colossal depth charge to the television barons.
PLEEEEEAASE!!! Just give us X Files 3! I don’t care if it is a miniseries or a big screen extravaganza — just give the ending it deserves (and then a few more movies after that).
