UPDATE, TUESDAY AM: After skewering his old show Two And A Half Men with a barrage of insults last week, Charlie Sheen pulled back today but just a little. Sheen posted on his website a letter to his replacement on Men, Ashton Kutcher, apologizing for telling him he sucked. But Sheen refused to take back his comments that Men has become “a steaming pile of ass” with “bad writing.” Here is Sheen’s letter signed as his now-deceased Men character Charlie Harper.
Dear Ashton-
My bad.
I was disrespectful to a man doing his best.
I got excited and threw you into a crossfire.
The rest of my statement I stand behind.
You, however, deserve better.
Safety in your travels good sir.
- The “late” Charlie Harper
PREVIOUS, FRIDAY PM: Just as his new show, Anger Management, is gearing for production on its initial 10-episode order from FX, its star/producer Charlie Sheen embarked on the type of verbal rampage that got him in trouble with his previous employer Warner Bros. TV and ultimately got him fired from his previous show, CBS’ Two And A Half Men. Over the past 2 days, Sheen dropped the Mr. Nice Guy persona he had cultivated since he signed on for Anger Management last summer to return to his infamous warlock days.
“Perhaps if Warner Bros. spent as much time and energy focusing on THEIR show, it wouldn’t be such a steaming pile of ass,” Sheen said of Men on Wednesday when asked by TMZ for response to the cease-and-desist letter from the studio banning the use of images of Sheen as his Man character to promote his new show. Then today, he called into TMZ Live, also reverting to an old habit he had during his wild days a year ago when he would regularly call into live radio shows to vent. “I’m tired of pretending Ashton doesn’t suck,” he said, an 180 degree from the thumbs-up he had publicly given his replacement Ashton Kutcher. “I’m tired of lying … I’m tired of pretending the show doesn’t suck … I’m tired of pretending Ashton doesn’t suck…It’s nothing personal … I just feel bad for him … he’s saddled with such bad writing,” Sheen concluded, shifting his insults to his favorite target of last year, Two And A Half Men showrunner Chuck Lorre.
There is no such thing bad publicity, they say, and a new show needs all the attention it can get. But I doubt this is the type of attention the marketing teams at FX and Anger Management producer Lionsgate TV are aiming for. Seeing glimpses of the foul-mouthed, loose-cannon Charlie Sheen of 2011 so early in the process on Anger Management will no doubt raise concern at FX, Lionsgate and especially Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury division, whose model’s success is tied to a show’s ability to go the distance, hitting the 100-episode mark and beyond. Was this a brief outburst provoked by the WBTV legal move or a sign of relapse? Or maybe Sheen is turning to Daniel Day-Lewis style of method acting, embodying his anger management issues-plagued character on and off-work.

” Freedom of Speech “…..Charlie can say whatever he wants as long as it is honest! If you think your friend has gained weight and you tell them, it is acceptable….no one has the right to tell people how to think or how to talk, everyone has their own point of views.
…..no words necessary, just action! Stay on track with your new show Charlie, don’t lose focus now! Stay focused! Good luck on your new show!
My advise to Charlie now is to FOCUS his energy on his new show and ignore everything else…..he shouldn’t waste his energy on bad mouthing about the old show…..he still has resentment towards them and it is understandable, but Charlie ” success is the BEST REVENGE ”
totally agree, his old show is not even worth of his critics or concern, let’s moving on !
Sheen is right on everything he says about the show with Ashton.
There is NO chemistry with the Brit and Ashton. She looks like his mother. It’s the worst show on tv. CBS made a BIG mistake and W/B made a BIG mistake paying Ashton so much. Ashton should pay W/B for being such a loser. I’ve never seen anyone SO lame and get paid so much…Where do I sign up for this gig…
People only watch the show so at the end they can barf to stay thin. The loyal fans just watch reruns on FOX..Thank God FOX picked up the syndication….
2.5 men cannot even be near to the highs charlie got it to
I have always thought of this sitcom to be tedious even with Sheen as the lead. it was never funny…
Charlie Sheen is a pig. Do we really have to listen to his jealous rants. His ass should have been thrown in jail years ago
Everything Charlie said is true. The show is beyond horrible and Ashton is awful. It’s all super childish humor. Why isn’t CBS worried about Ashton? His tweets on Paterno, his behavior in Rio…
can’t wait to see Anger Management. 2.5 stinks, Charlie just told the truth, no matter how much it hurts.
Ashton is awful!! I am glad they still play old episode Charlie is great
On 2.5 Men, when the Walden character slept with Charlie’s mother (insert collective “ewwwww”), that show officially jumped the shark. I’ll admit, I watched at first out of curiosity. Now, it’s just plain painful…I gave up after a few episodes. On to “Anger Management”!
I don’t think anyone in the world could argue with that….the new show is beyond terrible. Not sure if all the good writers went to the Big Bang Theory, but it is just garbage. I hope Charlie’s new show does well, he clearly was carrying the other.
No they don’t need to be worried Nellie, it is a smart move and we can’t wait to watch Anger Management !
As for his recent comments..it is the cold hard truth.
Monday when I read the Ratings Race report on deadline the demo rating had dropped into the 3′s and the total viewer numbers were low as well. These are not repeat episode ratings but rather ratings for new episodes. So whoever said the ratings are good is clearly clueless. Charlie Sheen is correct. More importantly, they(CBS) cannot put the blame for the lower-than-ever ratings on him this time.
Does it matter what Charlie says? He has a new show with a crappy writing staff and some recycled actors. But if a dozen people watch he gets his back 90 and we are stuck with him for awhile.
Two and a Half Men was always mediocre, however Sheen, whether you like him or not, elevated the material to at least watchable, as did Cryer to a lesser extent. But the show, post Sheen, is now just completely God-awful, Cryer is no good as a semi-lead, and seems to be phoning it in now anyhow, and Kutcher is just plain terrible. Kutcher’s character doesn’t work, his performance doesn’t work, and niether fit the show no matter how much Lorre and company try to shoehorn them in. Add to that the writing has hit never levels of awful to boot, and you have a show that should be put out of everyone’s misery.
People like to jump on everything Sheen says and does these days, but in this case he’s certainly not wrong.
Also, it should be noted that shooting for cable is a lot different than shooting for network, and Sheen would already have his entire first season of Anger Management in the bag, or close to it by this point. Plus, if the show is a hit, then given it is made for cable, the making of any future seasons would be a lot more flexible to accomodate any conflicts with Sheen’s…schedule.
W I N N I N G . . . L O L !
Sounds like Mr Sheen has finally come to the realization that he’s lost at least $50M and growing to do a job he could do in his sleep. ANGER MANAGEMENT would have to do ridiculous numbers to make up for that loot.
anyone who knows charlie, knows full well his ego will never quit…this shit is simply the nature of the beast…
The fact that so many posts here rabidly attack Ashton Kutcher and “Two and a Half Men” while giving a pass to such a vile human being like Charlie Sheen speaks volumes of their character and where the country is heading…
Personally, I hope “Anger Management” is a colossal flop.
Okay, here is what is happening. Charlie is clearly still partying his ass off. Same behavior as before. The guy is sick and in need of major help. He MAY be able to get through these ten eps, MAYBE. But this is obvious addict behavior and I would bet the house that he is still using. A lot. Good luck, Bruce Helford. You’re next in the barrel.
TWO & A HALF MEN is part new show, part old show (Like ALL & THE FAMILY to ARCHIE BUNKERS PLACE) and it’s still funny.
There is a reason Chuck Lorre has the three top sitcoms on CBS right now (and he created/co-created two of them) He’s still doing something right!
Charlie speaking the truth. That show is beyond terrible, glad someone said it.
Dear Charlie,
Enough already – we don’t care. You got fired for being a drug addict and saying horrid things about your boss. In most jobs you would have been gone years ago. I’m a fan of yours – so stop acting like a jack*ss and get back to work.
Dear Ashton, try harder.
I saw a “2 and a half Men” episode once on an airplane flight and it was the worst 23 minutes of my life.
