EXCLUSIVE: Tasha Brown has been named VP of Development and Production for Chelsea Handler’s Borderline Amazing Prods. Brown was most recently VP of comedy development at Peter Chernin’s Chernin Entertainment where she helped develop the company’s first hit series, freshman Fox comedy New Girl. At Borderline, Brown will work with Handler, her partner Tom Brunelle, and co-executive producer Brad Wollack in overseeing the company’s slate. Borderline is expected to ramp up its development under Handler’s rich new overall deal with E!, which includes a first-look pact for her company with NBC Universal. Borderline currently produces Chelsea Lately and After Lately for E!, and Are You There, Chelsea? for NBC.
Previously a writer on FOX’s Grounded for Life and ABC’s Married to the Kellys, Brown segued to the executive ranks as director of development at BBC Worldwide Prods. “Tasha has a writer’s mind and an executive’s know how,” Handler said. “Plus, she’s a smart, British woman, so she marginally makes up for all of the idiots I already have on staff,” Handler said.

Love Tasha. Great hire!
The more I hear E!’s investment in all things Chelsea Handjob, the more they become a pariah to me. I seriously would rather they invest in the Kardashian clan, than this useless unfunny depressing cable tv hack.
Smart move. Brunelle and Wollack are both hilariously incompetent, contributing nothing but forced laughter at everything Chelsea does and says for years. In an industry full of paid-for-doing-nothing sycophants, they may be the ass-kissing kings.
Tasha on the other hand, is a super strong hire.
I worked for Tom Brunelle in 2011 and found him highly competent, even if he does happen to laugh loudly. He has strong instincts about comedy, he knows what the Chelsea audience wants, and he’s comfortable leading or listening. A good boss overall.
she’s nice. I like the way she talks.
Love Tasha. So important to have an exec on board who “gets it” — her notes actually make a script BETTER — unlike many execs I’ve worked with who give nonsensical notes in an attempt to justify their existence. Good hire, Handler!
First, anyone who is going to take a joke that Chelsea Handler makes about her staff seriously needs to pay a little more attention. She has a number of projects in the works with several of these folks she refers to as “idiots”. It is a joke people. Comedians do that…
Second, anyone who wants to insult the authenticity, intelligence or talent of Tom or Brad (or any of the other folks on Chelsea Lately) is sadly mistaken. These are brilliant people who have made a living making a lot of people laugh, either doing stand-up or producing a well-watched television show.
I’m glad that CH is hiring someone to take her company even further. They are hard-working, talented individuals who deserve success.
I agree. Really great comedians.
