Chi McBride is back on the series beat with Warner Bros. TV. The actor is set to co-star on the studio’s CBS drama pilot Golden Boy. The drama, written/exec produced by Nicholas Wootton, exec produced by Greg Berlanti and directed/exec produced by Richard Shepard, tracks an ambitious young police officer’s meteoric rise through the department ranks. McBride will play his new partner, Detective Owen. This is McBride’s latest gig for Warner Bros. TV. The actor’s last 3 series were at the studio, The Nine, Pushing Daisies and most recently Human Target.

I’m a real big fan of McBride and I’ve followed him since Boston Public. It really sucks that he can’t hold on to a series to the point that this will be his 5th series in a little over 8 years.
Chi’s a good actor but he’s known as a “show killer.” Cast him in a new show and it’s destined to be canceled.
If Golden Boy is picked up, will it break Chi’s streak?
Awesome actor. So happy for Chi!
Lemme guess. He’s playing the crusty-but-benign police captain.
I was just walking down Wythe Ave. in Brooklyn and saw them filming The Golden Boy. I’m ashamed to say I did not who McBride was but what I saw looked good. I will be watching when it comes out on CBS.
