Emma Watson will lead an ensemble cast in the latest from Oscar-winner Sofia Coppola. The Bling Ring is inspired by real events in which a group of teens engage in a string of celebrity burglaries.

Why is she wasting our time and hers making a movie on these losers, especially when it was already done as a Lifetime movie? They are not worth our time. How sad this is what films have come to and even worse when it comes from the daughter of a film great.
No kidding. She (and the producers) have justified these criminals’ actions by giving the entitled brats exactly what they wanted: fame.
The leaders of the Bling Ring were a boy and an Asian girl, how is Emma going to lead? I hope she’s not playing Alexis Niers? Not only did she not get what she deserved as far as prison time goes, girl is just an awful mess desperate to become famous. A film like this, directed by Coppola just validates this fame hungry bunch which is the number one reason why they did what they did. And to be honest? Their story is not even that interesting. Nothing great happened and they got caught fast thanks to their own social network bragging. Why glamourize this stupid story?
Not really loving this career path for Emma, nor this choice for Sofia.
Emma is just like those girls desperate for fame but in Emma’s case, she’s desperate to stay relevant and she is hungry for fame, that’s the only explanation for her oh-so-nice public persona and not so nice real one.
Emma Watson, l wish u all the best in your forthcoming mission. You will always remain in my prayers throughout your mission. l wish u all the best and God bless you.
It says “inspired by real events,” not “biopic.” I’m guessing that Sofia has her own take on the story, seeing as that’s her world and all.
How can you judge a movie that hasn’t even gone into production yet? Geez, it’s just a movie. Plus, it’s Sofia freakin’ Coppola so I’ll buy my ticket now.
Sofia Coppola’s career keeps getting less interesting. “Somewhere” was unwatchable.
What I don’t understand is why do Sofia want to do something like thi? All her movies are tranquil and this doesn’t seem like that at all and Emma needs to stop trying all these edgy roles if she wants to keep her fan base.
I think Sofia is allowed to make movies that are not ‘tranquil’. She can do what she wants.
This movie sounds… dumb. I can’t believe they’re going to give those idiot girls even more fame by making this.
This movie sounds ridiculous. Emma Watson needs to stop trying so hard.
I don’t understand why Emma or Sophia want to make a movie about kids who valiantly try to overcome the disadvantage of being middle class and thus not being able to afford the Paris Hilton lifestyle by turning to criminal activity. I guess I can understand it from Emma’s end–she’s trying to establish her credentials as a legitimate actress and not just an HP legacy, but why would Sophia want to tackle a story which was literally Lifetime movie material?
I think this is a good move for Emma. I think this is a role Emma can draw from her own experience and personal history to play.
I agree with you. Emma can bring a lot of depth to this character with her Ivy experiences and her being rich since the age of 10.
