FX has renewed its animated series Archer for a fourth season with a 13-episode order. Additionally, FX Prods, which produces the comedy, has signed an overall production deal with Archer executive producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson and their animation studio, Floyd County Prods. In its current third season, Archer has posted ratings gains vs. Season 2 of 62% in adults 18-34 (1.03 million), 44% in adults 18-49 (1.58 million) and 32% in total viewers (2.0 million). The show’s second season also was up from Season 1. On a weekly basis, Season 3 of Archer is averaging 3.31 million total viewers. “It was an easy decision to order more Archer,” said FX’s EVP original programming Nick Grad. “Adam, Matt, and our amazing voice cast are delivering one of the funniest and smartest shows on television.”
The overall deal with FX Prods is for two years with an option for an additional two years that will keep Reed and Thompson with FXP for any additional seasons of Archer and any new projects they develop. The overall pact also includes Reed and Thompson’s animation studio, Floyd County Prods, to continue as animators on Archer, along with FX’s second animated comedy series Unsupervised, and any new animated series produced by FX Prods or developed by FX. This is the second overall deal for FXP, coming on the heels of the mega pact with the creators of another FX comedy hit, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day and their RCG Prods. Reed and Thompson are with UTA.

Funniest show on television. Great news.
A perfect show – keep up the good work.
Rocky
I preferred their earlier series, Frisky Dingo, on Adult Swim. But Archer has a more mainstream appeal and can still be quite hilarious. Let’s go old school and have 26 episodes a year!
DANGER ZONE!!!
I agree with all the positive comments above. I am completely obsessed with this tv show for the wonderful writing, the clever dialogue, the delicious characters, and so many memorable scenes. I even brought the first two seasons on DVD ( it is rare for me to buy DVD tv shows ). Hopefully, the Emmy’s will start to recognize this show’s brilliance.
26 Episodes – i agree! Best show on TV IMHO.

Archer: Is it going to kill everyone?

Why can’t Cartoon Network be this productive?Archer debuted 2 years ago and is halfway through it’s 3rd season and has been renewed for a 4th.
Meanwhile, Adult Swim’s The Boondocks debuted over 6 years ago and has only completed 3 seasons. The show was renewed for a 4th season, but we have no clue when it’s returning. It’s been on hiatus since August 2010.
Then there’s The Venture Bros. That show debuted 7 and a half years ago and is only up to season 4.When is season 5 coming? It’s been about 15 months.
God I love Archer…
SPLOOSH!
This show is genius.
26 episodes a year? No thanks.
Adam Reed is struggling hard to keep quality high with just 13-15 episodes a year, and adding any more to that number is just inviting the Law of Diminishing Returns to make its debut appearance with this show.
I’d far rather have 13 fantastic episodes per year than 26 episodes, at least 10-12 of which are somewhat lacking.
Great news indeed. One of the smartest shows on television and infinitely rewatchable, I also own both seasons.
Pam: And then he was like—
Cheryl: “You’re a moped.”
Pam: How’d you know? And what’s it mean, anyway?
Cheryl: Mopeds are fun but you don’t want your buddies to see you riding one.
Pam: Oh… I thought he meant I was fuel efficient. Only had ten beers.
Cheryl: Forties?
Pam: No… yes.
Renita, love the DANGER ZONE ref.
I have nothing but praise for this show. Great voice actors and excellent, excellent writing. I bought the DVD and appreciate more and more with each view.
Archer is the apple of my eye (archer-apple?). It’s smart, fun, weird, actors are awesome. Even the Archer book is laugh out loud, smack-the-guy-writing-next-to-you-at-Starbucks funny. And look at him knowing that his stuff (and yours) will never be Archer good…
