Grant Wilson, co-lead investigator of Syfy’s flagship reality series Ghost Hunters, will be leaving the show. The announcement was made on last night’s episode. His last episode will wrap production next month and air May 16. “While paranormal investigating has always been and will remain a passion for me, after enjoying nearly eight successful seasons on television, I have made the decision to leave the series in order to focus on other aspects of my personal life,” he said. Ghost Hunters chronicles cases from the files of TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) — led by Rhode Island plumbers Wilson and Jason Hawes. Since its 2004 premiere, the show, produced by Craig Piligian’s Pilgrim Studios, has spawned two spinoffs, with over 200 episodes among the three series.

I agree…Those guys were plumbers and then made it big in the ghost world!They are finally making money having fun rather than working in a sewer/leaking faucets.So for Grant to leave now it ,something has to be happening with his family,I hope it is nothing to serious.Good luck to him and hopefully he has made enough money so he does’nt have to go back to plumbing!

Fail. It was The Travel Channels show they made fun of. They’re the one’s that think everything is paranormal. These guys do what no group investigating the paranormal have ever done; they start by trying to “debunk” or disprove each aspect of the individual claims by exploring any and all possible explanations, before even considering whether to look at that part, and that part only, as anything paranormal. And that starts a whole new round of test that no matter what they think or feel, if they can’t document the results of the test, no matter how compelling it is to them at the time, they don’t use it. That makes them the only show that purposely chooses to forgo the ratings and fake drama that come with epic reveals, to maintain credibility.
i agree with you , this is the only paranormal show that even attempts to be real. i would like it if they did not play music while investigating,it is misleading,but i guess it might ruin the Reveal. i like the way they try to be quiet and just listen rathar than some i have seen where they are throwing holy water everywhere before they realize it is the pipes, lol. the chicks are chattier unfortunately, but i don’t think they are really there for the technical part, as they are all hotties. however, this show is cool and down to earth. remember the one on the little boat that had speakers set up and moving dummies that the client “forgot to mention”, i was surprised that Jason didn’t smack the guy, i would have. anyway, keep up the good work and i too am sorry to see Grant go.
I am sorry to hear that Grant is leaving Taps and I just wanted to cry when I heard that. Grant, Jason, Steve, Dave,and Amy make the show so fun to watch. dont be a stranger Grant. I will miss you on the show. Ghost Hunters is my weekly show. thanks for caring for others in their trials with problems with what they experience.

These guys ‘hate’ when anyone tries to show them the white/grey speck floating around as evidence. Even got in a huge fight in season one because some idiot kept trying to present the exact thing you’re talking about. They have never, ever made the comment you quote to them, and have specifically addressed that type of “evidence” as unacceptable…period. You’d surely know that…if ya knew what you were talking about.

I know am late at replying but o well. Just want say awesome reply. I believe in TAPS I have been watching them since the first season. There is no way they are fake. They do try to debunk it and figure it out before they call it paranormal.
People may think what Ghost Hunters is Fake should live in a house that 5 people were murdered and hear and see the things that I hear and see so shame on the people that think what they do is Fake….

I actually think Grant was the most grounded person in the series. I stopped watching after the horrific Halloween episode at the fort 3? years ago where it was pretty obvious Grant pulled his jacket to make it seem like he was touched.
Even before I stopped watching you could almost see in Grant’s eyes that he didn’t like the deception he was doing to the audience. I think it’s good for him that he’s leaving.
this is devastating news to the ghost hunting industry and to all the ghosts that enjoy being hunted. grant was/is one of the finest finders of ghosts out there. his record speaks for itself. you will be missed grant, happy hunting where ever you go!
Worry not. I smell a spin-off with him going at it solo. He will do just fine. Maybe call it Two And A Half Ghosts.

I love all these cynics and ham-handed critics posting their self absorbed drivel cutting down this group that are the best at this fairly new investigative science. I have seen no attempts to “fake” anything whatsoever, in fact they stick to their procedures and disciplines to the letter. Light years ahead of the wannabees that came after them. Kudos to TAPS for taking a hobby, and parleying it into an almost full time en devour. I wish Grant well, he deserves it.

Then you never really watched. There are countless videos on youtube that clearly show them faking evidence. In fact, many of these videos expose things I’ve never seen during the show, like Grant pulling on a string in his pocket to make it look like his collar was touch, or Amy pulling a chain as she walked through a door to make a bunch of stuff fall.
It’s all fake. C’mon! What evidence have they really found. The most compelling show was the St. Augustine lighthouse shows. I’m not even sure I believe them.

A taped show can never prove what they actually saw. Even their “Live Shows” have difficulty proving anything. I guess you have to have faith. I like Grant. Jason was a disappointment much of the time. I guess you are right, it will eventually fail.Grant lasted than any of the leaders from GHI. If you choose to believe I think you will get the proff. If you choose not to believe than you will see ways to not find any proof. I still believe in Santa but I will withhold judgement. Don’t let my wife see this. She is addicted.

I totally agree with you. Jason could be a hard ass and Grant’s kindness and sensitivity were always good for the show and the cast. Everyone has an opinion, faked not faked, blah blah. I personally believe that i would never pass judgement on anyone who has said they have experienced the paranormal. It wasn’t that long ago that people thought the world was flat and that dinosaurs were “fake”. The chances that everyone who has ever had an experience is lying or mistaken is rather small wouldn’t you think? I have seen and heard very credible people who have had their own experiences and I give them the benefit of the doubt. Good luck to Grant and peace, love, and understanding to all. Life would be boring without controversy.

And just because someone doesnt like a show or thinks its fake doesnt mean they shouldnt watch it. Some peolpe like to watch crap they dont care for just so they can rate it. Do Ebert and Roper like everything they watch? “NO”. What is sad is that you are so small minded you think the stuff they are showing you is real. on the last show where Grant is leaving. It’s amazing to me how some of these people really come down hard on the cast members especially
Jason. Let’s see since none are associated with the show other than
fans and viewers how do we know what is going down. Really its none of our business. I will miss Grant also and do hope if GH goes on that he will eventually come back. Family comes first and they have always been up front from day on this.
I love the show and will continue to watch. I do believe that sometimes it may not all be accurate but this is reality TV and for entertaining us. I do believe that they are spirits among us
and think the TAPS team has educated us on this really well.
I wish Grant well and hope things will be fine.
To the rest of the TAPS crew keep doing what your doing.

I too agree about the evidence tampering. When Grant said his jacket was pulled, too obvious it was fake. In his defense, a big show special means you need some action, probably got talked into doing it. Still, I like him and Jason, hope the show survives.
So he’ll no longer be finding evidence of ghosts…after years of not finding evidence of ghosts. Big whoop.
