The Marvel superheroes pic is written and directed by Joss Whedon, which only serves to ramp up expectations among the fanboy set. So does the cast: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgard and Samuel L. Jackson. Here’s the second trailer for the tentpole, which Disney releases May 4.

Joss Whedon is a great writer and it looks like a Transformers movie with more character development and story. Looks wonderful.
this movie looks like absolute crap!!! ahahahah what a joke — the worst marvel film ever — looks like a badly filmed soap opera — I bet it will bomb.
Whedon’s involvement ramps up expectations for the fanGIRL set as well.
Wow. I’m on board.
I dig that they made theme more apparent in this one with the whole “different folks coming together as one” through-line, most notably with that shot of the Hulk saving Iron Man from his free fall.
Did Battleship and avengers both use a cd rom with transformers noises and fonts on it?
look, im 40 and didn’t read comics and im out of it and all, but what’s scarlet j’s superpowers anyways….aerobics and a 9mm??
Black Widow is a regular human female in peak physical condition. She has no super powers just like Tony Stark has no super powers. Just like Batman/Bruce Wayne has no super powers. However, that hasn’t stopped her from being in the Avengers before. Widow is a master spy and expert in hand to hand combat and marksman. If you don’t care for a regular human being in a line-up pick up a Essential Marvel TPB sometime for Avengers.
All these characters bring something to the table regardless of their special ability.
Superman might be the strong and fastest guy on earth, but he’s still vulnerable to little green rocks. Batman’s not vulnerable to little green rocks. Superman could kill Batman with a punch, but Batman would make some fancy kryptonite armor.
In conclusion, you are 40 and you are out of it, yes.
Iron Man and Batman DO have superpowers, Fanboy. They have super gadgets, and super billions, and super-powered brains. At least the girl has a gun. Does bow and arrow guy have corporate billions or super gadgets? If so, the trailer does not make that apparent.
Fanboy non-logic makes me laugh.
Yes he does Dina because they are made by SHIELD in the case of this movie.
Super billions and super gadgets ARE not super powers. What are super powers? Flight, heat vision, super strength. THOSE are super powers. Tony Stark is highly intelligent, but everything he has is tech based. He has no super powers.
Black Widow and Hawkeye both have SUPERgadgets of their own that they carry. In the comics, Widow has various infiltration gadgets plus the Widow’s Sting. Hawkeye has his trick arrows. In this movie according to Renner he has arrows that can incapacitate the Hulk if need be. So try again sweetie.
Batman being a billionaire and having gadgets doesn’t make him have superpowers. Not sure how you came up with that pea brained logic.
Super-Gadgets and Super-Technology (which is honestly akin to magic) are indeed “Super Powers”. How can everybody else in the world understand this but aging comic book fans? Even kids instinctively know this.
No they aren’t. I’m not sure where you get that from. Aging comic fans? Kids know this? Where are you getting your BS from? Comic books and super heroes for dummies?
At a Comic-Con panel about 10 or 12 years ago, they gathered a bunch of the top comic writers working at the time and asked them to rank the heroes in a “last hero standing” kind of way. In other words, if super heroes were real, who’d be the twenty left standing, and in what order, if they had a huge Battle Royale/Hunger Games fight. The results were revealing and nothing short of astonishing.
First off, Superman was not #1. All the writers agreed that if the Marvel/DC/Image, etc. heroes were real, the most powerful of them all would be Flash. The man moves at the speed of light, and with that power, he’s got access to a whole slew of other powers. How do you contend with that? However, they also agreed that if this were a Last Hero Standing melee, there would be one hero, and one hero only prepared to take down someone like Flash. Only one hero who’d have the foresight to prepare for someone like Flash going rogue.
And do you know who that hero was?
Batman.
Because that’s his character; that’s who he is. He finds a way to beat you, he’s prepared to beat you, no matter what.
So the Dark Knight was ranked #1. A guy who’s got no powers other than his genius, his razor-honed body and his Bat gadgets. The most human of all the heroes.
In fact, Superman wasn’t even ranked 3rd on this list. Do you know who was ranked ahead of him? Who the hottest writers at the time believed could take down Superman?
Wolverine.
I agreed then, and agree now.
Yes, because Batman and Wolverine have superpowers, dolt. Maybe only Fanboys are stupid enough to ignore the obvious, but it is quite clear to everyone else. Maybe if you cited The Punisher you’d have an argument, but stupid Fanboy non-logic blinds you to the obvious. Super Billions building Super Gadgets with a Super Brain, make Batman quite the super-powered superhero. People wouldn’t call him a SUPERHERO if he wasn’t Fanboy dolts! And citing a comic-con panel like holy scripture was LOL worthy. Talking to Fanboys is like talking to little children.
Batman doesn’t have super powers kid. Not sure where you get anyone coming off as a dolt. Batman doesn’t have a super brain. He’s a very smart dude, but he’s not super powered smart.
Here is what’s idiotic about your argument. You know who else are called superheroes? HAWKEYE and BLACK WIDOW who are both in this movie. So the crux of your entire argument THEY CAN’T BE SUPERHEROES IF THEY DON’T HAVE SUPERPOWERS and using that against The Avengers has already failed.
Super gadgets and super technology? Widow and Hawkeye both have that. Hawkeye has specialized arrows that do various objectives. Previously he’s used an arrow strong enough to stun the Hulk. Black Widow also has special weapons and gadgets of her own. So care to continue your failure on these arguments?
It’s not fanboy non-logic. It’s just logic which you have none of.
What’s Jeremy Renner’s super power? He is an expert archer?
Yes and your point is?
I think the point is to laugh. I know I laughed when bow and arrow guy showed up.
Do you laugh when Bat guy shows up in that Dark Knight movie? Or clown make-up guy played by Heath Ledger?
Or Claw man in X-Men?
Why do you laugh? Because it’s stupid that Hawkeye is an archer? Is it stupid to you that Bruce Wayne dresses up as a bat and wears a cape? That sounds stupid too if you think about it. Regardless of whether you think it’s stupid or not, it’s fiction and these characters have been around probably longer than you and people still respond to them today for some reason or another.
Hawkeye is an archer. So what. So is Robin Hood. Robin Hood is bow an arrow guy . . . yet movies still get made of him. There’s more to the Hawkeye character than the petty garbage you are piddling trying to pass off as an informed argument.
It doesn’t matter that you laugh because comic book movies have still become billion dollar movie franchises regardless. And Avengers is bound to as well.
Ok so I am a hopeful fan and that looks bad to me.
problem is… every “big” movie looks the same nowadays.
Sucks. It’s like John Carter with spandex. And what’s happening with Joss Whedon? Yeah, he’s the king nerd, but he hadn’t a box office hit in years. ‘Buffy’ is his only success. What kind of CV is that?
Yeah, baby!
It looks outstanding. Also going by set video and what’s been reported they still are saving a lot of the big reveals and money shots for the movie. I think that’s good. Far too often do trailers show and reveal way too much.
We still don’t really know what race or the identity of Loki’s army.
That shot of Cap, Thor, and Iron Man, the Big Three all standing together in that clearing was fantastic.
Beautiful!
gotta say, that’s the first time i felt like i was literally seeing the comic book come to life with them all fighting together like that. kind of cool (even for someone who’s not a big comic movie fan like me)
HHHHHHHHEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, Bring it on. Man, is going to be a fantastic year for movies.
Same old b.s.
Sorry you’re not in the movie and got written out as the guy who brings the team together Rick Jones.
Wow. Looks great! Each trailer just makes me want to see this movie even more.
This plays fresh and very cool, much more so than the underwhelming first trailer. Can’t wait.
Much improvement over previous trailers for this film. I want to see it again.
It looks like a Transformers movie…………jury’s out on the rest based on that trailer. Even with Whedon.
This really doesn’t look that good– Every shot/setup feels lit/lifted/composed from some other superhero movie- like some fan made Frankenstein trailer grafted from the internet. Joss Whedon is simply not a good film maker- Firefly is horrid and his other film has been intentionally buried for 4 years now (Cabin in the Woods), so that certainly doesn’t bode well for this steroid-and-cape debacle. What else is there? His endless DV Shakespere jerk-off projects with his TV-safe muse Nathan Fillion? Nothing adds up to anything good or interesting here. Perhaps the fact that it will give John Carter something to poke fun at…
Mark Ruffalo looks to be the weakest link.
Nice, they reused the graphics from the last Mission Impossible trailer. Very cost effective!
I see mega dollar signs!!! And how again did Paramount lose the Marvel deal? Dumb!!!
Oh My Fucking God. I just had a Geek-Gasm!!!
They’ve assured themselves at least two more.
Make Mine Joss!
