I’ve been hearing from sources all day that Bridget Jones’s Baby is in big trouble. And Universal and Working Title have been denying it. The rumor has been that production was weeks away and was shut down after Hugh Grant walked off in a huff because of script problems. Now that I’m seeing rumors reported as fact, I want to weigh in. Sources close to the production ara adamant they will make this movie this year. Yes, they are still tweaking the script. But Grant, Colin Firth and especially Renee Zellweger are determined to make it, I’m told by people I trust. Those people are denying that Grant has bailed on the film. There has been a bit of turbulence, with Bridesmaids helmer Paul Feig bailing and Brit Peter Cattaneo taking the helm of the film. “Bullshit,” said my source, of the idea that the film might be scrapped or that it is in danger of imploding. If my sources are wrong, and I’m the one being bullshitted, we’ll know soon enough and we will fix the nooses.

They need to have this one be about the Hugh Grant character developing some character, and them helping him get the girl that inspires it.
Is it any surprise that Renee Zellwigger is the most commited to this film that no one wants? She’s literally the only one who stands to gain ANYTHING from it. Hugh Grant can play roles like this in his sleep now and Colin Firth is slumming it after his amazing string of performances. Renee just wants to be back in the limelight again and the only way she can do that is digging up a long dead franchise. I kind of feel sorry for her…
It’s so sad that Renee’s career has been so badly managed. It looks like the last few films have been based only on a paycheck. I thought she was smarter than that. Who is guiding her career?
Badly managed? Um, I think what you mean is that she’s just not very good.
You’re talking about what Renee stands to gain in terms of her career? Renee’s already gained something–a lot of weight. I bet she would hate to have it all be for naught. That alone is enough to understand her being fully behind the completion of this movie.
You feel sorry for a person who is an Academy Award winner and is one of the only actresses ever to be nominated for Best Actress for drama and comedy? Get serious. If you knew anything about her, which you definitely do not, you’d know that she’s never taken a job for money and never will, including this one. And no, I don’t work for her or have a dog in the fight. It’s just infuriating that people speculate like this with ZERO FACTS. Careers rise and fall and rise and fall again, but talent is forever. And she has talent. And integrity. And you’d be lucky to know her. Find a single person who actually knows Renee and who has something bad to say about her. It’ll be a long search.

Lost baby , maybe ?! Three complete actors playing this incompetently , I think ! These are three mature actors , now , more suited to serious roles now . If only they would write an intelligent script for who are ageing yuppies ? It could work , but it won’t , because this movie is in need of Margaret Thatcher’s touch !
You’ll see this movie made about the time Bill Murray does Ghostbusters III or Brad Pitt does the remake of “Bullitt.”
Renee Zellweger is like Matisse: a great artist and not always recognised apparently by people like above. After Bridget Jones and Miss Potter, if she never makes a great movie again, I repeat, if she NEVER makes a great movie again, she is still better and has a better movie record than anyone else and remains my favourite actress/filmmaker ever!
