EXCLUSIVE: Jamie Blackley has landed the co-lead in the 300 sequel that Noam Murro will direct for Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. In the Kurt Johnstad-scripted film, Blackley will play Calisto, a teen whose desire to become the heroic man/soldier his father was leads the 16-year-old to become a leader of a small band of soldiers. He’ll join Sullivan Stapleton, who got a lead last week in the next installment of the Zack Snyder-directed 300. Blackley just wrapped the lead in lead in the Andrew Douglas-directed uwantme2killhim?, the Bryan Singer produced film about a young man entangled in an unhealthy internet relationship that results in him committing a crime. He also played one of the leads in London Boulevard opposite Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley and he wrapped a supporting role in Snow White and the Huntsman. Blackley is repped by WME, Luber Roklin Entertainment and UK-based United Agents.

why is this getting made? and yet another scrawny boy being cast as the co-lead? that this why movies are failing. denzel, vin, the rock proved what audiences want to see. keep casting scrawny boy and see movies tank.
Talented kid, but this might be a mistake. 300 was a one-off, a sequel really wouldn’t make any sense in a downward market. Plus I’m surprised Zack Snyder is even getting a sequel, talented guy but I thought “Sucker Punch” ended his big budget folly. Guess not.
300 is awesome. Another sequel could heighten the excitement. However, Zack Snyder’s recent flop, Sucker Punch, is disappointing. Worried if he will ruined epic 300.

Jamie was in a project I wrote and was a pleasure to work with. Great guy. Lots of talent. Everyone who has seen the film comments how he has great star potential. He’ll be great. Excellent casting choice.

It’s a SEQUEL. My God, why can’t anyone use that term anymore? I guess every PR person in love with that “REBOOT” tag hates to say it, but it’s a continuation in some form. Whether it has the same characters, actors, or whatever — it’s still a SEQUEL.
