The women of MTV’s Jersey Shore say Hoboken, NJ would have benefited from a proposed spinoff that was denied a filming permit. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley said today the Film Commission likely based its decision on “stereotypes” and misconceptions. ”We don’t go to a town to damage it. … We go to a town to help it out.” Mayor Dawn Zimmer says the commission’s decision was based on safety and quality of life concerns for residents along the Hudson River. Hoboken officials say 495 Productions was seeking a 24-hour filming permit to follow two “well-known reality television celebrities” living in the city. The production company can appeal the decision to the city council. Farley and Polizzi questioned Zimmer’s role in the film commission’s rejection. ”I wish she would have met us first and maybe talked about what the show was gonna be about before just being like ‘You’re not allowed in Hoboken.’ I think that’s really rude, to be honest,” Polizzi said. “She was 24 once, she’s from Jersey, she was at the shore and she was doing the same exact thing we’re doing. She just wasn’t taped.”

It’s called POLITICS you poor sheltered soul. Obviously the woman just wants to get elected to another term.
Highly doubtful. Frequenting the Jersey Shore doesn’t automatically turn one into a drunk slutty moron with no self-respect or dignity to speak of.
Plus, Hoboken is too small a town to accommodate yet another show blocking off traffic.
Stay the hell out of our town! I’m not going to pretend that my town is a small and quaint town, because it isn’t. But I don’t want that trash ruining my town. Go to Jersey City or better yet, do another few seasons overseas.
They should film this show in California, specifically in the Valley, where the porn industry is based.
I live in NJ and know what the score is here. All of our film commission money was spent two years ago even before the current Gov took office. There is no money in their budget for anything like tax breaks or waivers. Thats why Jersey Shore tried to get funding from a small business commission for money for this season – and it was nixed by Chritie because the commission is only supposed to fund small business startups not tv production.
So basically Jersey Shore was asking Hoboken to bear the brunt of expense for overtime and insurance and the potential problems of crowd control, traffic, liability for the ‘privilege’ of having the show film in their area. Sorry, ladies – get this under your teased up beehives. Hoboken is a struggling blue collar town and they cant afford you. Its all about money.
And there in lies the difference, dear Snooki, the whole “being taped” part.
Nope has nothing to do with you all being horrible humans that contribute nothing to society.
Zimmer is an excellent mayor who has fought corruption. There was a question about side-deals having already been made so she properly shut the door. Plus, Hoboken has a reality show with “Cake Boss” and one is more than enough.
Smart move. Hoboken’s a nice town, the last thing it needs is these idiots.
SNOOKI is not “from Jersey” like Dawn Zimmer. She’s a Staten Islander who parties in Jersey, why don;t they film in Staten Island. Hoboken is too classy for MTV reality.
Didn’t Chappelle’s Show already do a Real World: Hoboken? If I recall correctly, someone got stabbed. I’d be into that.
It’s already painful with Cake Boss. Getting fat midwesterners blocking the sidewalks five people wide (and this is BEFORE they stand in line in freezing temperatures to buy mediocre at best pastries). To have more trash come to this city when we’ve thankfully rid ourselves of the college drunks at the St. Patricks Day parade, thanks to its cancellation.
