EXCLUSIVE: John Legend is behind a music special, which is in series consideration at Showtime. The nine-time Grammy Award winner hosts and executive produces the project, which had a private taping recently at the historic EastWest Studios in Los Angeles. The untitled show features top artists from different genres who discuss their careers and perform an original musical collaboration before live studio audience. The first taping, directed by Jesse Dylan (Kicking & Screaming), son of music icon Bob Dylan, included a live
performance from country star Faith Hill singing her new single “You’re The One Whose Waiting”, which was co-written by Legend, and a solo performance by rapper B.o.B of the single “Ghost in the Machine.” The show wrapped with a live rendition of “Son of a Preacher Man” with Legend on piano, Hill on lead vocals, and an original rap written and performed by B.o.B. Producers are already working on a second installment of the program, eyed to shoot before next week’s Grammy Awards. Executive producing with Legend are his Get Lifted Film Co. partner Mike Jackson; Mike Tolin of Tolin Prods.; RD Robb and Tom Carter of Station3; and Priscilla Cohen of Wondros.

Sweet — I love Station3. RD Robb and Tom Carter are awesome!
Sign me up!
A reality series with some class.
i cant WAIT for this series! sounds awesome!
@Jolie hopefully Showtime is not like every other Network that messes up a good thing. It seems like Legend is on to something unique, which means that the big man in the desk will do everything to water it down and fit it into a middle class white american snooze fest. Let’s hope they trust the ‘Legend’ and his musical talent to pull off a show that could really inspire some great musical moments.
spontaneous jams, straight to your living space! LOVING IT!
R.D.Robb is very talented. This show will be very successful!
Love Legend. Sounds like it could be a great contemporary showcase for the established music business as opposed to the aspiring one, (an alternative to “American Idol,”) bookending nicely with David Furnish’s Elvis Costello show on Sundance…has that disappeared permanently? I hope not.
MAJOR John Legend fan everything this man does is done with class, I CANNOT wait! Like his music I know this too will be legendary… can’t wait!
This is exactly what TV needs right now: World-class talent, unique creativity and inspiring artists. RD Robb, Tom Carter and company of Station3 are exactly the team needed to pull this off. Yo networks, pay attention to the REAL deal. Cuz this is THE REAL DEAL, folks. Oh and btw, John Ledgend… well, his last name says it all.
Love legend
Ugh please do not mess this up showtime. In a time where a collaboration is some reggaetone rapper a pop singer and a dj; we are in need of a music variety show that harkens back to a time where music was original and organic. Legend is a class act, articulate, and talented. Seems he is the perfect person to orchestrate this. This generations Nat King Cole, perhaps.
Cannot wait for this, and thrilled that the passionate, talented guys at Station3 are in the driver’s seat. Way to go RD, Tom, and Dale; if Showtime lets you do your thing, this will be a show worth looking forward to for a long time to come! Bravo.
