EXCLUSIVE: Jon Favreau has been tapped to direct Eric Kripke/JJ Abrams’ high-concept NBC drama pilot Revolution. The project, written by Supernatural creator Kripke, is being described as a high-octane action drama following a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist. Abrams, Kripke and Bryan Burk are executive producing. This marks the first drama pilot directing gig for Favreau, who has helmed a few comedy pilots in the past, including that for the ABC series In Case Of Emergency starring David Arquette. In addition to Revolution, Favreau has Tweaked, a comedy pilot at CBS. The project, which Favreau wrote on spec and is attached to direct, was greenlighted in October but has not been cast yet and may shoot outside of the regular pilot season. CAA-repped Favreau’s recent feature directing credits include the two Iron Man movies and Cowboys & Aliens.

The premise sounds interesting, is it an EMP or something else? Something alien? Not sure but with JJ Abrams, Eric Kripke and now Favreau NBC would be insane to not greelight it to series already.
Heard a rumor about this, smart hire. NBC scored with all this talent. And finally got to read the script-IT’S SO GREAT!!
AKA “Dies the Fire” by S.M. Sterling. The producers could do worse than licensing the book, as the idea is almost identical.
A high-octane action drama about the loss of energy? Who writes these one-liners?
ALL forms of energy? Srsly? No water, no wind and people have lost the power of locomotion? Sounds like more poorly-thought through scifi bosh to me.
To bad it’s on NBC, they’ll blow it.
If you’ve taken any physics class, ever, once in your life, that one-liner makes absolutely no sense.
And yet again Hollywood steals a story that is already fleshed out and pass it off as their own idea. “Dies the Fire”….go read yourself a great book then the rest of the series.
I love how this is a blatent ripoff of stirling.
It sounds cool but I guess we just have to wait and see it when it comes out…we I know I will wait and see.
It would have been nice if they would have gave Supernatural a shot with a major network. Missed that opportunity.
Where’d you get a hold of a script, I’d love to read some! Let me know
