EXCLUSIVE: Kevin Zegers has been cast as the lead in the independent film The Colony, directed by Jeff Renfroe. Renfroe co-wrote the script with Patrick Tarr and Pascal Trottier. Zegers, Laurence Fishburne and Bill Paxton star in the feature about a small group of survivors in the aftermath of a future Ice Age who live underground fighting for their lives in a society that disintegrates into cannibalism and violence. Paul Barkin will produce. Zegers recently completed filming on the 12-part, $28 million British miniseries Titanic: Blood & Steel alongside Chris Noth, Derek Jacobi and Neve Campbell. His credits include Transamerica and 50 Dead Men Walking, in which he starred with Ben Kingsley and Jim Sturgess. He is repped by ICM.

Good for him. This guy deserves these breaks. He was on such a run after Transamerica and it seems like he’s getting back that cred. He’s a total pro and as a crew member of a union — it is unique to find that in young actors.
Kevin Zegers is one of the most talented and versatile young actors in Hollywood. He is just at the beginning, I’m sure, of a long and successful career! Every director and studio exec should have him on the short list! Congrats Kevin. Well deserved. Way to go ICM….
I feel like this could be the first of many times well hear about this guy this year.
Solid actor. Growing into himself. Well respected by peers.
Nice to hear about these guys instead of some unnamed young actors.
I just can’t picture carrying a heavy indie about a society that disintegrates into cannibalism and violence on his shoulders?
