EXCLUSIVE: Law & Order and Law & Order: LA co-star Alana De La Garza is back at NBC with a lead role on the network’s medical drama pilot Do No Harm. Also cast in the pilot, written by David Schulner and directed by Michael Mayer, is British actress Ruta Gedmintas (The Borgias, Spooks). The Universal Studios-produced Do No Harm centers on Jeffrey Kohn, a brilliant neurosurgeon who wrestles with his dangerous alter-ego that threatens to wreak havoc on his personal and professional life. De La Garza, repped by SDB Partners, will play Dr. Lena Steck, a confident neurosurgeon who has chemistry with Kohl. Gedmintas will play Olivia Case, Kohn’s former fiance.

I think NBC should have given ‘Law & Order: LA’ another chance seriously. Alana de la Garza helped save that show compared to the first two ladies cast in the show (Meg Boone & Regina Hall). The show was better after it’s retool and NBC canceled it after they screwed it over with the Monday timeslot. I wish her luck, but in the same token I wish it would flop like NBC’s other programming. Alana belongs in the Law & Order world. Wish she had a role on ‘Law & Order: SVU’, Linus Roache does!
I could not agree more. Though I am very glad to see Linus Roache popping up on SVU. The two of them together were a great pair. And now that Meloni is gone (and Hargitay is on auto-pilot,) it would have been great to see Linus and Alana become regulars. In my humble opinion, Law & Order had finally regained its footing (though obviously not its numbers) when it was cancelled. And the once great SVU has become as preposterous as an episode of Nip/Tuck. The earlier episodes were very smart and engaging. Now, each and every week is a more over-the-top special guest star whoring for an Emmy. Not every crime in NY is committed by an incestuous state senator who is planning to set off a dirty bomb for al queda.
I agree with Arnold. Alana is a talented actress and she did a lot for the original L&O. She helped me enjoy LOLA considerably. NBC wanted Wolf’s show fail, why else would they move the show like that when it performed quite well on Wednesday night? I don’t like the network anymore. I am anxious for Alana. NBC doesn’t have the best track record. Only two dramas so far have survived (though mostly sitcoms were ordered). Alana does belong in the L&O universe, but she also deserves to be a lead role. I love Alana and I hope this show pulls through. If not, I hope Wolf can help her out.
Such a great actress. I wish her well!
She’s fantastic. I would never wish for anything to flop. Don’t really get the reasoning behind that. I do think NBC made a mistake getting rid of Law and Order but at the same time, I’m actually glad to see her doing something outside of that world.
Same here. When they decided not to break the record by airing just one more season of Law & Order is when I began to question NBC’s decisions. Since that time, the majority of those decisions have been awful, hence why they’re always in last place.
NBC’s downfall started the moment they gave Leno his own show at ten pm. All other shows suffered as a result.
De La Garza is awesome
I enjoy her series L and O (LA,too) in Japan now. De La Garza is so nice that I got angry that she banged a convicted lawyer in season 20. I shared sadness with her partner.
Good news for Alana but who play Jeffrey Kohn. Need a name? Maybe Linus Roache could play it. He defenetly have a chemistry with Alana….
Alana would not only be good in a leading role but shes pretty good to look at to.
