NBC announced that Lindsay Lohan will host Saturday Night Live on March 3 with musical guest Jack White. It will be the fourth time hosting for Lohan, who’s been in the news a lot over the past year but mostly not in a good way. Is it a coincidence that the network behind quickly canceled series The Playboy Club is doing business with a Playboy cover girl?

I have to admit I’m kind of exited. I hope she’s a good sport and makes fun of herself.
Me too. I really hope Tina Fey makes a cameo
“Is it a coincidence that the network behind quickly canceled series The Playboy Club is doing business with a Playboy cover girl?”
Yes
That’s not a ‘coincidence’ of any sort. Its stunt casting and I’m surprised SNL would bother but seeing how this is clearly a story it’s obvious why they did it. Lohan just needs to go away or just fully transform into being her mother since she’s about 80% there as it is. She’s a mess.
Is Bobby Brown hosting the week after? He’s in the news too.
This isn’t the first time Lohan has gone on SNL to poke fun at herself. She refuses to take the mess she is in seriously.
And that’s her problem.
It’s LIVE show. Are they sure that she will show up? What will they do if she will now show up for live show?
I really can’t see any reason for this unless it’s somehow part of her community service.
“I really can’t see any reason for this…”
How about, before she got herself into trouble most people saw her as a talented actresses, and all the troubles she’s had will help generate ratings.
You really can’t see that?
“most people saw her as a talented actresses” LOL….funniest thing I’ve read on Deadline in a long time.
I’m not the original commenter… but yes we can see that. It’s just we’ve seen it before… for the last six years or so it’s been the same pathetic story with Lindsay.
Your reasons for her hosting are the same reasons I heard for her being on the cover of playboy… a playboy that nobody bought or cared about. I’m guessing the SNL numbers won’t move much at all due to her hosting. It’s a tired and depressing story and I’m tired of watching it.
Yeah, her talent is so overwhelmingly refreshing that I think we should give her just one more chance… *cough* *cough*
Please no Linsanity jokes but that’s all we will see they won’t be able to help themselves Lohan will think the Linsanity is all about her. She should really be in jail right now it’s disgraceful that the judge failed to apply the real law to her. She doesn’t take her legal trouble seriously she knows she’s famous and therefore she can get away with things other people can’t.
Obviously some of you aren’t thinking about the Ratings coup this could potentially be for SNL.
Michaels isn’t dumb.
And good for her for doing it.
As long as she (or her people) don’t kibosh jokes at her own expense, it could be funny.
(But PR-wise it could be a slippery tight rope.)

Considering that NBC gave Jenny McCarthy her own primetime show, they probably didn’t need much convincing to allow Lohan to host (again).
The real question is whether or not Rachel Dratch will show up to reprise Debbie Downer. The character’s debut appearance- in which the cast famously struggled to get through the sketch without laughing- included guest host Lohan.

give her a break.
unless she is still destroying herself with crack cocaine, in which case this is a horrible idea.
she’s taken a cleaver to herself for some time.
if there is an iota of a chance that she is quietly at the point of drinking tea and stretching her legs under the duvet of a sunday morning (supping tea and stretching the bod under a duvet are life essential) then she should be getting to the point where she can strut her stuff a little. she is a fantastically talented article.
I think we’re missing the bigger picture here…Jack White is playing. I couldn’t be more excited.
Plus it’s time to class up the musical guests after Lana Del Rey and youtube girl who covered Chris Brown.
I agree with you about Jack White. I’m really looking forward to his appearance. But Lana Del Rey is awesome. I don’t understand all the hate with her.
How pathetic.
So much talent out there – especially new talent on the cusp of breaking out – and SNL stoops to this.
Even if one believes that Lindsay has a dangling thread of talent left, it’s clear that she doesn’t believe it herself.
If she did, she would go away, hone her craft and find her way to the top through patience, hard work and a respect for her craft, and for those who commit to their art, without ever having the chances that Lindsay has repeatedly discarded.
Celebrating the bottom of the barrel has brought us Snooki and other such luminaries.
Even if Lindsay acquits herself admirably on SNL, it’s a very long way from real film audiences paying hard-earned money to see her in a great film.
At this rate, she’s on the short bus to Steve Hirsh’s front door.
What a waste.
What is GE/NBC’s corporate policy on employing criminal convicts?
The Playboy Club was a good show as usual NBC caved!
Lorne Michaels stunt-casting? The question is, when ISN’T he stunt-casting?
This has ramped up in the last few shows, with nearly every episode filled with guest spots and cameos – Poehler, Timberlake, Paul Simon, and many other familiar faces. Lorne has done this pretty consistently too throughout the years.
I think people will tune in to see if the Lohan show is a train-wreck, average, or surprisingly good. True to form, it may be a bit of all of the above, since some skits (especially towards the end of each show) sometimes fall flat.
Lohan should be given a chance here – she may not be a great actress, but that hasn’t stopped previous SNL hosts. And if she is to pull herself out of her self-created downward spiral, she should be allowed to prove she can. Of course, if she stinks up the joint, I’d say that’s probably her last SNL gig for a long time.
Such a joke..like she deserves it..?
Lindsay used to be pretty friendly with Tina Fey. Maybe she’s throwing her a bone (so to speak). Plus the ratings will probably be fantastic.
i doubt LL will help the ratings. We are posting on this, but I don’t think most people care about her anymore.
The Playboy Club was a good show as usual NBC caved! Yeah, caved to the fact no one tuned in. This must be news to you but networks actually need viewers.
Hey, I like the kid. She’s shown she can act, but I sure wish she’d taken heed to the “intervention” that Tina Fey and other SNL cast members staged for her years ago. They saw her life spiraling out of control at that time, and they really wanted to help set her on the right path. She didn’t listen, and look where it got her. Young people, please learn to rely on the wisdom and counsel of those who’ve been where you are today. Hindsight is indeed 20/20.
Lindsay, if you’re reading this, please stop with the botox and plastic surgery. Your fish lips are almost on-par with Meg Ryan and Nikki Cox, and honey, that’s no compliment.
Come on, when has really shown she can act?
I let out a loud groan and a WHY when i read this. I wish her well but thIs girl os not hot, shes not a role model, shes not done any grt work its just lije wveryone move on. I know michaels likes her and im going to have to give him hell the nxt time im in nyc. So sick of this girl as are most in the industry. Oh well it gets them press and slight tune in ups
Who knows, this could be the start of a comeback.
This is a joke. Lorne Michaels continues to ruin SNL’s legacy with bad host after bad host. Lohan is going to be terrible. The audience hates her, so there’s no way she’s going to get laughs. She’s a spoiled brat who threw away a million chances at a career. My guess is that she does Lorne “favors” because this is insane.
I can’t wait for…”Join us next week, with your host CASEY ANTHONY…and musical guest BOBBY BROWN.”
Lorne’s gotta hand the show over to someone younger who has a sense of modern comedy. He has a cast full of very talented performers and writers, yet somehow it’s as bad as Mad TV used to be. Comedy Central’s Key & Peele runs circles around this dead horse of a program.
These same comments have been made for the last 32 years. Some eps are a hit, some are a miss.
Try putting on a 90 minute live show for 37 years and see how well you can do it. (No insult intended.)
From the many stars who’ve launched out of SNL it’s obvious they know what they’re doing. (Even if we don’t always appreciate it at the time.)
I’m happy for but I thought she was in jail
