A lot of these shows seem….similar. Nickmom is an okay idea, but there needs to be some variety.
Four of these projects have stand-up comedy as part of their premise and all the others have that implied. Seems like development just greenlit any show that had the word “comic” in it’s longline. I would hate to be an advertiser on one of these homogenous shows.
There is one small problem with all of this. The last thing “moms” want to watch is NickMom. When you are around children day in and day out (as most hardworking moms are)and inundated with children programming, you want to escape all that NOT jump back in. Moms love their Housewives franchises, sitcoms and dramas. Not this slate of hell. I mean really, if you get a babysitter to go out to dinner, do you really want to be seated next to kids or go to Chuck E Cheese? Parents know what I mean. I bet a bunch of folks without children drummed up this one. Fail.
SpongeBob is right. After a full day of NickJr, all I want to do when the kiddo goes to bed is watch anything but Nick Jr. I switch to more adult fair and I bet most other moms do too. Some childless man probably thought this one up.
I’m gobsmacked. What the heck are they thinking? This is the LAST thing I would ever watch.
Oh no! They are going to change Nick Jr.? Again? Why change a good thing? We watch Nick Jr. from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm every night. I dont want my 3 year old watching stand up comedy. If thats the case We will be finding something else to watch. We like being able to relax and watch good cartoons before bed and after bath time. Cartoons where they dont say idiot do-face, or moron. UGH! Im not seeing my husband wanting to watch “mommy shows”. If that was the case we would be watching house hunters..
this is just getting worse and worse…just bring Moose and Zee back on Nick Jr, stop trying to compete with Disney….
What can we do to bring back moose and zee?
This is just another flush to speed up Nick Jrs popularity going down the toilet. The outrage Nick Jr has caused by changing what worked and replacing it with Dora the explorer all day and gave moose and zee the boot. Nick Jr once prided themselves by being a child’s TV station without commercials, now its nothing but commercials! Nickmom? Who does your marketing research!? Who’s got two thumbs and wont be tuning into more brainless garbage Nick Jr and the executives believe is quality television …this mom right here!
This nick mom is an outrage!! I walked in to my 2yr old daughters room and 11:00 pm (she is up late because that’s the time she gets to spend with her mom) and I hear “uncircumcised penis” so I ran to the tv to see if she changed the channel and to my surprise in was on Nick Jr. Very Very inappropriate. I thought this was a channel for kids, boy was I mistaken. I guess its for the ratings or just all the young parents ( which I am one) who would rather see reality tv then anything. (which I am not) whoever is in charge of this should be ashamed. My daughter is exceptionally smart. she speaks English, Spanish and can tell you everything about animals and being nice and sharing etc… from which she learned from nick Jr and very persistent parents. we try very hard to make sure she is always learning.. but not between 10:00 pm and 2:00 am when i saw this i wished she was one of those kids that did understand anything that way she wouldn’t understand the filth that was broadcasting on what was once an all around positive and learning channel. i know my input means nothing but maybe if your kids were above and beyond the average kid then maybe you may understand my anger. there are plenty of other resources for parents to get there laughs adult tv, the internet, and gossip magazines…… Not “LEARNING” channel………………
I’m sorry but I thought Nick Jr was a channel for kids too young to enjoy programming on Nick or NickTeen. Are they just getting rid of NickJr altogether and replacing it with NickMom? Maybe they’re so scared of the mouse and his friends that theyre just packing up and leaving the 2-5 year old market completely? That’s my guess. There are hundreds of channels for adults to watch. Another one, with horrible sounding shows, is not needed. What we need is more research-based, educational television programming. We used to have that before all of the changes. Viacom is missing the boat. They could have had loyal viewers from preK through teens and beyond with Nick Jr kids then growing to Nick then NickTeen and then MTV and their other channels. Bad business move as well as showing a complete lack of corporate responsibility.
WOW! This us absurd. I’m sure I speak for many, many Moms when I say the last thing I want to see on a childrens channel is programming that’s not for my children. Nick Jr. is pushing it’s viewers away with all these ridiculous changes. Just bring back the regular shows and Moose and Zee.
Noone will watch this. They have totally ruined Nick jr and my toddler wont watch it. Thats ok. We have turned the channel to Sprout and Disney Jr. The thing is by the time this network wises up all their viewers will be gone forever. I cancelled the channel already.
Wow, you’ve got to be kidding me! Put that stuff on Nick at Night, not Nick Jr. That is the last channel I would watch at night after hours. Very bad decision! I hope the quality shows on Nick Jr. get picked up by PBS.
NickMom? What if babies wake up in the middle of the night, and want to watch their favorite shows on Nick Jr, but they get stuck watching some ridiculous stand-up “mommy” shows, then they whine all night and people can’t get no sleep.
Another reason I have is about Nick Jr.’s channel. This is a preschool channel. No preschool channel in the US, Canada nor global have programming meant for adults. Preschoolers (some of them) stay up ’till 11PM just to watch their educational shows they love, like Dora and the Bubble Guppies for instance. Woman have lots of channels they can watch. Now I’m thinking that the whole Nick Jr. channel will be turning into a “new” NickMom channel. Epic fail, Viacom. Epic fail.
Me, my wife nor my sons will not watch this until Nick Jr. goes back to primetime. In that case, there’s this new programming block on Disney Junior that we will be watching. It’s called Night Light and it’s family-oriented. XP
Viacom sure come to its senses and be smart. I hope this block fails and gets bad ratings.
Erm… I don’t think any of the commenters above seem to understand the simple logic behind this idea. You’re watching Nick Jr. with the kids, you put them to sleep, you come back out and there’s stand-up on. Easy. Why would kids who are young enough to watch Nick Jr.’s programming be up past 9:00 anyway?
In AZ it comes on at 7:00p.m. and how hard is it to change a channel when the kids go to sleep?
I like to keep my baby tv on this channel in her room I dont eant her to wake up to anything like that.
Chuck R obviously doesn’t have children. If he did, he would realize that not all children go to bed at the same time and not all families go by the same schedule. He would also be aware that children often like to wake up screaming and that sometimes, the only thing that can calm them down is watching one of their favorite shows. On top of that, we don’t all live in the same timezone. Where we live, NickMom will be coming on at 8 PM, which is well before bed time.
And what about us dads who take on the caregiving role? I don’t care what the shows are; the simple fact that they assume only mothers are watching the channel with their kids is enough to lose my interest. Looks like we’ll be downloading shows from now on.
This is horrible, I just saw it by accident as this WAS the only channel I’d let my daughter watch, and was shocked, without any warning to the language that came out of NickMOM on NICK JR. This is so inappropriate for children and NICK JR. should change its name if its going to start airing adult programming I am appalled !!!! This came on at 7pm, holy cow, do the programers have kids????
I absolutly hate this new programming. Everynight my 2 younger kids fall asleep to Nickjr. In order to get them to settle down and think about sleep I have to turn Yo Gabba Gabba or Ni Hao Kai Lan. Last night we couldnt do that. The freaking brady Bunch was on. No lie my 2 year old cried for “Gabba Gabba.” It took forever to get her settled down and to sleep. This was a very bad move and I’m hoping there is someone at Nickelodeon that will do something about it. I wish that they would stop taking away from the children’s channels. Kids cant even watch Cartoon network, King of the hill? Come one. All the other nick channels have Full House or The Nanny. Leave something for the smaller kids. Please Nickelodeon change back Nickjr’s programming. REMOVE NickMom.
This is ridiculous. I just turned on Nick Jr for my 3yo expecting Diego to be on & its some woman getting a tattoo. This new programming is a horrible idea. Looks like we’ll be watching more On Demand Disney Jr channel now.
What in the wolrd are they thinking!!! I’m so frustrated and frankly pissed that they stopped showing cartoons at night! I don’t understand why they would but something for moms on the nick jr. station.! My daughters go to sleep wathcing nick jr. at night, so now I’m having to listen to them cry to watch cartoons!!!! I think that this is the WORST idea they could have come up with!!!
Tonight my husband got into my THREE YEAR OLD SON’S room just in time to hear some low rate comic talking about how minutes and daddies “special hug” then nine months later there’s a baby. Great. This was within 3 minutes of the end of Team Umizumi. This is a horrible idea. It was only 9pm!
I like Jesse walked in my two year old and three year old girls room and thought my oldest had changed it too! I agree with others, why change a good thing. My daughters normally watch Nick Jr. At night because its perfect for their age group and I love that most of the shows are educational. Now I just leave it on Disney Jr. and Sprout. I was pretty angry about it at first, but then tonight thought, well I might as well see what these shows are all about. I watched two and couldn’t handle anymore, how boringggg. They should have just kept it the way it was.
This set up at night is horrible. My daughter is four and my other is 11 and the talks and things on this show are down right nasty. My daughters do not need to be watching or hearing the crap on this show. I set all of our channels to nick jr as to avoid this crap only to find out this comes on before my kids are in bed. With ball and dance lessons my children don’t eat dinner til around 8 then bath time homework and then bed. I hate it
Hate hate hate this…was totally shocked when I noticed the change in programming. I will not watch Nick Jr when they talk about breasts and penises.
The change in NickJr programming at night is appalling! Mom’s have plenty of channels to watch. Due to scheduling issues my 2 and 4 yr olds watch, or used to watch, their cartoons during that time. There are no other appropriate shows on at that time for them. I’m thoroughly disgusted as are a lot of other people judging from all above comments. I really hope that the “powers that be” will pay attention and return NickJr.
Please remove this show, sometimes my 3 year old is still awake in bed at 10 and I have to find some other program fo his to watch. Whats the point of Nick Jr. if you are going to have adult programming on?
THIS IS GREAT I LOVE NICK MOM NIGHT OUT AND THE OTHER MOMMYY SHOWS MY BABY IS USUALLY ASLEEP BY THEN AND I STAY UP LAUGHING THE NIGHT AWAY AWESOME WHOEVER THOUGHT THIS UP GREAT JOB!!!!
