The Ghost Whisperer alum David Conrad and Tovah Feldshuh round out the cast of NBC’s drama pilot Beautiful People. The project, written by Michael McDonald, is set in the near future in a society where humans co-exist with mechanical androids that look like people but are treated like second-class citizens. Gersh-repped Conrad will play Jerry, the head of Universal Kinematics, a Steve Jobs-type of entrepreneurial genius, expert at both high-level design and higher-level marketing of sophisticated Mechanical servants. Feldshuh will play the head of the Mechanical Control Division of the police department who is determined to keep them a cowed, servile underclass.
Daniel Lissing (The Cure) is the first actor cast in ABC’s drama pilot Last Resort, from Shawn Ryan and Karl Gajdusek. The Sony TV-produced project centers on the crew of the U.S.S. Nevada, a nuclear submarine, who, after disobaying a suspicous order, become fugitives. They land on the island of Sainte Marina, where they take over the NATO Listening Station and declare themselves an independent nuclear nation. Lissing will play a member of the crew, SEAL officer James King, a lethal killer with no ties back home.
And in the awww department, eight-year-old Maggie Jones has landed a lead in the Fox comedy Ben Fox Is My Manny. The 20th TV/Chernin Entertainment project, created by Dana Fox, centers on an uptight single mother whose aimless brother moves in to help raise her daughter (Jones). This actually is not Jones’ first Fox pilot, she also co-starred in the 2010 comedy Most Likely To Succeed. Jones, repped by Osbrink, Caliber Media Co and Morris Yorn in Los Angeles and J Pervis Talent Agency in Atlanta, is best known for her role as Matt Damon’s daughter in We Bought A Zoo and also appeared in last year’s Footloose remake.

Oh, thank God!
I thought “Manny” had struck out…
As a David Conrad from Ghost Whisperer fan I am glad that he will be seen again in another TV program when will this be on the NBC TV station and what time
I am also a fan of David Conrad (Ghost Whisperer). When filming of this new show starts, will it be in California or somewhere else? Can’t wait to see more of David’s versatile acting talents!
This robot show could really work, now with this creative, solid and underrated cast, if it could be sure to avoid Bruce Willis Surrogates pleasure-styled robot marketing and went for subtle and chilling production design instead – THAT’s what will pull in viewers and critics week after week I think
this is great news for fans of David Conrad, glad he is back on television again.
Glad Conrad is back, someone that talented should have a show.
I am glad Conrad will be back on TV. Someone that talented should have a show.
