EXCLUSIVE: Without A Trace alumna Roselyn Sanchez has landed one of the leads in the ABC pilot Devious Maids, from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry. Also cast in the pilot is newcomer Angelique Cabral. Based on the Mexican format, the soap follows four maids with ambition and dreams of their own while they work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. t, will play one of them, Carmen, an aspiring singer who carries herself like the rich and famous woman she will one day be. She works for a self-absorbed Cuban-American pop star (Cabral), who is constantly on tour. Sanchez, who will next co-stars in Relativity Media’s Act Of Valor, opening tomorrow, joins previously cast Devious Maids leads Ana Ortiz and Dania Ramirez. Cabral is with Pakula/King & Associates and Karen Forman Management.

great news for angelique cabral. i’ve seen her in some things and she is talented, but i find it strange to call her a “newcomer” since she’s been working since 2004.
Not a shock. Cherry has said she was close to landing the Gaby part on DH. And she was briefly attached to another ABC pilot two years ago too.

Dania Ramirez is the weakest link here. Not good on Heroes. Not good on Entourage. And laughably awful in Illegal Tender. ABC would be wise to replace her with someone audiences will like more.

ANYWAY, I know she was fighting to be seen by Marc, but they just keep recycling the same old tired faces! It’s a pity! It’s the reason why reality shows are so successful! People want to see folks on screen they can also relate to. The under dog! But I guess Rosalyn is a latin Barbie, and Dania has a name. Whatevs. Can Rosalyn even sing???
