Today brings more potential bad news for Rupert Murdoch’s embattled News International. British Labour Party MP Tom Watson tweeted this morning that the Metropolitan police have confirmed to him they are investigating News International-owned The Times newspaper over email hacking. Watson, who is also a member of the Parliamentary committee for Culture, Media and Sport, had written to the police last month asking if they would investigate after the newspaper’s editor, James Harding. He told the Leveson Inquiry into U.K. media ethics that a Times reporter had been given a formal warning after accessing private emails without authorization. A police spokesman told the BBC officers were in contact with Watson regarding the specific issues he seeks to raise, but said they would not provide “running commentary.”

I guess this means that the UK House of Commons can expect that Citizen Rupert will be back to testify about his “righteous indignation” about how all of his underlings have “let him down.” Then his sycophant son, News Int’l CEO James, will say that they made another $150 million in “settlement payoffs” to the HACKED email victims (including terrorist victim Milly Dowler’s bugged family) and maybe that Rupe & Co. are considering shudder The Times (ala News of the World) to clean up the mess in the UK.
What I’m really waiting for here in the states is to see Atty. General Eric Holder and our bought-off Congre$$ will ever really investigate the computer mainframe hacking by News Corp’s News America couponing division of a pair of former competitors, which, surprise, were eventually bought out and acquired by Rupe & Co. to terminate some lawsuits and investigations here for several hundred million dollar$. Then there is all that talk about the Far Right-backed Faux News Channel maintaining some kind of electronic surveillance operation in the basement of their building — unless that has already been dismantled by Fux News chief Roger Ailes???!!!
Oh yeah, then there is the matter of phones and voice-mail being hacked at the Carlyle Hotel in New York of some actors staying there — which is probably just the tip of the iceberg on these shores, too. There are so many holes that still have to be plugged in the ethics-less Murdoch Dam that it seems Rupe & Co. may want to buy an army of Dutch Boys to plug each of the holes as keep spouting open. It’s that, or Citizen Rupe & family dealing with outright shareholders’ rebellion and lynching! ;-D
