In his first pilot gig, Ryan Phillippe is set for the lead in CBS’ untitled Nick Wootton-Greg Berlanti drama pilot (formerly Golden Boy). The project, from Warner Bros TV and Berlanti Prods centers on Clark (Phillippe), a cop, and chronicles his meteoric rise from officer to detective and ultimately police commissioner. In the pilot, Phillippe joins previously cast Kevin Alejandro and Chi McBride. Phillippe has been one of the most sough-after actors for pilots for several years now. His pilot gig comes on the heels for his signing for a major role on the final season of Damages.

Has his big screen career failed so badly that he’s headed for the silver screen, and that on buzzless CBS?
sam, don’t quit your day job. a silver screen is not a tv. A silver screen, also known as a silver lenticular screen, is a type of projection screen that was popular in the early years of the motion picture industry and passed into popular usage as a metonym for the cinema industry. The term silver screen comes from the actual silver (or similarly reflective aluminum) content embedded in the material that made up the screen’s highly reflective surface.
I LOVE the snarky-dim-witted-comment fail. Sam you ROCK!!
Phillipe!
A great piece of casting for a show I’m eagerly anticipating. Nick Wootton has written some of the best episodes of television we’ve ever seen, and it’s exciting to see him return to the genre he knows so well.
Yes, and David Milch rewrote some of the best episodes of television we’ve ever seen.
Exactly.
How does Phillipe play a police commissioner? Puzzling casting.
Agreed. It’s bizarre.
Congrats Ryan, combo of Greg and CBS and cop show means it will probably go like 8 seasons
Exciting news. TV has been courting him quite aggressively and I’m sure he choose carefully.
He is such an amazing actor
the pouting police commish. Must see/must howl tv.
Phillipy will never be forgiven for what he did to JD Harmeyer. Never.
Are you crazy? JD and Ryan are good friends.
Brilliant !! It nice to see the good film actors come to TV since the studios stopped making drama’s. He was awesome in “Crash” and “Breach”.
Love the casting. I think Ryan Phillippe is an amazing actor. Looking forward to this.
Very excited about this! Ryan is such an underrated actor. He’s very talented. Can’t wait.
