UPDATED: Four weeks into its freshman run, Spike TV’s unscripted series Ink Master has been renewed for a second season with a 13-episode order. Hosted by rock veteran and tattoo aficionado Dave Navarro and judged by tattoo artists Chris Nunez and Oliver Peck, Ink Master debuted on Jan. 17 and through its first four episodes has averaged 1.4 million viewers for its premiere Tuesday airing and 5.2 million cume viewers a week. The show, part of Spike TV’s effort to broaden its audience by bringing in older males, has improved the Tuesday 10 PM slot by 102% in Men 18-49. The series, produced by Original Media, features 10 tattoo artists competing for a $100,000 cash prize, an editorial feature in the tattoo magazine Inked, and the title of ‘Ink Master.’
Also today, TV Guide Network renewed its own hit reality series Nail Files, for an eight-episode second season to air this summer. The series, from exec producer SallyAnn Salsano, launched in June to TV Guide’s best ever premiere ratings for an original series. It follows the personal and professional life of nail salon owner Katie Czorla.

I really like Ink Masters. I start watching and I just can’t change the channel! I like Chris Nunez and Dave Navarro-it’s good to see him out there again. I’m glad they”re back for another season.
Tommy was robbed, Shane winning Ink Masters, what a joke, the guy only does black and white, Tommy should have won. Don’t get me wrong Shane is good, really good but Tommy had that little something extra and having the best tattoo of season and coming in second, what a waste. Well, if Ink Master follows in the footsteps of other reality shows, then second place will mean more than 1st. Tommy can tattoo me anytime!!!
I couldnt agree more Tommy was robbed.Shanes work is great but 80% of what he did on the show was black/grey which is in his comfort zone.Tommy should have won hands down.Hopefully next season isnt the same type of result.Not sure what they Shane as best tattooist on.
This show is such a joke. I knew as soon as it started that they were going to give Shane the win. Hell they babied him through the whole damn show. I get so tired of these tattooists who do not like color. This show was rigged from the start. They said we are looking for the most well rounded tattooist. Yeah right. All Shane is good at is Black and Grey… That’s it. Tommy is an amazing talent that should have run away with the win hands down.
Agreed! Shane winning…really? I too agree that Shane is a very good artist but ALL blk and grey..where’s the range that judges spoke of? Tommy was clearly robbed. I don’t think I’ll be tuning into next season.
Agreed on Tommy’s talent, he should have won. While Shane has talent, Tommy was more rounded and he would be, I think, more pleasant to go to for a tattoo than Shane. Shane came across as a real douche.
I would rather have a phenomonal black and grey than a botched color tat. Shane proved he could do color as well.
It is just sad that Shane won. He has no buisness even being on the show considering ITS CALLED INK MASTER of course he is a good artist but when it comes to being well rounded he is not. Tommy was great did color and black and white actually knows what it means to tattoo he rarley stayed in his convert zone and it is just sad that the judges are that dumb how are you going to say he has the best tattoo of the season and then throw him under the busthey are idiots. After Tommy didn’t win I have decicded not to watch the show anymore its just sad and dissapointing when one is obviously better and you pick the other one. I’m so sorry Tommy you really did deaserve the ink master title. Shane is a JOKE when it comes down to Tommy. He is so egotistical to he’s almost as bad as al fiction that guy was awful all around awful artist awfull person and so is Shane ok artist but just a bad person and Tommy who is a great person and great artist gets put down. I also agree that Tommy should have won but I knew they would give it to Shane. A lot of these shows slack on their own rules. Shane is not a all around tattooer. He didn’t even deserve to win that challenge with the word ink on the wall.
First of all – have to put my 2 cents on Shane as well….. he is a douchebag. In tattooing it’s so important to like the artist you were working with (in my opinion) and after this season of Ink MAster, how can anyone like this guy? He was devious, fake, and just painful to watch his interviews. Tommy Helm should have clearly won and I think everyone would have agreed.
The whole point of the very last challenge was to correct and prove to the judges they could overcome, and Tommy did that beyond doubt, even doing Chris Nunez’s fav piece of the whole freaking show. Tommy deserved it. It was awesome that even in defeat, Tommy was so humble and congratulatory. I seriously doubt Shane would have been that way — he would have bitched like he always did.
its BS that tatu baby and jesse got sent home jesse was the best and tatu baby is just plain sexy….i dont care if she is good or not i would let her tattoo me anyday any time in a heartbeat!!!!!!!!!!
I still can’t believe they kicked Jamie off basically just because he doesn’t have any tattoos. I love this show but it pisses me off. Jessie was clearly better than Sebastian also. I wanted tatu baby to win. At least she got the vote for a second chance next season
