I really hope this is great, I really want it to be but the achilles heel is Joss Whedon… his direction smacks of TV and his writing is cheesy as hell. Now Shane directing Iron Man 3 is more like it.
Love your precog powers, reviewing a movie that isn’t even out yet. Did you get your super powers from a meteorite like the kids in Chronicle?
Color me impressed!
The achilles heel is Whedon? What is wrong with you?
This was one of the first times a superhero movie looks as good as it does in my imagination when I am actually reading the comics. I’m so there.
Ummm… where did Hulk come from in the 360-degree tracking shot at 0:44? He wasn’t there at 0:42.
^maybe just maybe he was standing further out and back peddled back?
He was standing just out of frame when it starts on Hawkeye.
This looks amazing! Didn’t see that tag with Loki/Stark during the Bowl… Awesome
Please I hope this is a massive bomb! So sick of these terrible comic book movies. It looks horrendous.
Then maybe you shouldn’t waste your time going to see it. I can’t understand why you would actively wish for someone else’s failure. In my world only little people attempt to build themselves up by putting others down. I’m just saying….
I would buy my tickets today if they were available….Just sayin’….
I love it! Can’t wait. Downey is so good.
Sorry guys, these avengers look pretty human to me, Looks like Iron man took some Yoga to become more flexible. Captain Chris Evans is not inspiring enough. Thor was miscast and Black widow is totally out of Avengers canon. And how much are they paying Mark Ruffallo to show up for only five minutes of screen before he becomes CGI Hulk? And Nick Fury? That’s Samual Adams!
The effects might be there by May, but the casting and eventual story is the big investment in making probably any movie. In this hignly anticipated gamble, better get ready for a reboot.
Not sure what you’re talking about here to be honest. Hemsworth was perfectly cast as Thor, he did an excellent job. Evans was very inspiring in the movie Captain America and will ‘become’ so here (amusing the writing is as effective as hoped) I’m not sure how Black Widow can be out of “Canon” (especially as this is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and creates much of its own ‘canon’. The MCU is a blend of th classic Marvel Universe and the Ultimate Universe, hence Widow being a key team member from Shield pretty early on. Which also tales care of your Samuel L Jackson query as not only does Nick Fury resemble Jackson in the Ultimate Universe he was modelled on him (with the actor’s permission) in terms of appearance and “attitude” years before Jackson was cast in Iron Man.
Also Ruffalo plays The Hulk in Avatar / Rise of The Apes mode, so probably did more work than anyone else running around in his Mo-cap suit for extra scenes.
If reaction to Hemsworth and Hiddlestone in Thor (not to mention praise for Evans as Captain America) is anything to go by this expensive gamble (it is and a brave one too) should have little to worry about, even if the screw up the story and make a mediocre film it should t least match Iron Man 2. Enough for a second go. If they make it anywhere near as entertaining as it “should” be, we have the likeliest candidate for next billion dollar film. It ticks an awful lot of boxes…
What kind of Hollywood moron are you?
Black Widow is totally out of Avengers canon? Wrong moron. Black Widow has been in the comics since the 1960′s and later became a hero and an actual member of the Avengers team. Most recently she was involved with Bucky Barnes who took up the mantle of Captain America when Steve Rogers was believed dead.
Iron Man looks too flexible after taking yoga?! WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT MAN?! Are you Don Murphy and still ticked off you didn’t get to produce the Iron Man franchise? He publicly trashed Jon Favreau and those movies on his forums and that’s what this pathetic post looks like.
Don’s much more articulate than that commenter.
To again show how much of a moron you are:
-Black Widow officially joined the Avengers team nearly 40 years ago in Avengers, volume 1, issue #111. She had been a recurring ally of the team since the 1960′s around issue #31. Her first appearance in The Avengers comic was issue #29.
-Her very first comic appearance was in Tales of Suspense #52 which was an Iron Man story. It was published in 1964. She originally was an Iron Man villain but she was brainwashed and eventually cured and became one of the good guys. So to say Black Widow is “out of Avengers canon” is not only flagrantly wrong it proves that you are a moron and have know idea what you are talking about.
Next time Nid, I suggest you check your facts and come correct.
Why is Jeremy Renner in this movie his character has no super powers he’s the weakest link in the chain. Oh because he’s a hot actor I see never mind then.
What should never be put to mind are, in fact, mindless comments such as yours. Hawkeye joined the Avengers in the mid-1960′s. I know this because he was always my favorite Avenger. Along with Spiderman, Hawkeye was written as something of a smartass. You really could have just looked it up in Wikipedia. Never mind.
Because his character is one of the most popular Avengers over the past 40 or so years and may in fact have “powers” in terms of his vision. Of course having no powers hasn’t exactly been a problem for the character of Batman has it?
Hawkeye is in the movie because he is one of the longest serving Avengers. It doesn’t have anything to do with Renner playing him.He was always in the script. And what does not having powers have to do with being a superhero? Not having powers doesn’t make you weak.
Should Batman not be in the Justice League because he doesn’t have any powers?Should Robin not lead the Titans because he doesn’t have any powers?Does that make them weak or any less of a superhero?Of course it doesn’t.
You’re an idiot. Hawkeye is in the movie because he’s a classic character and he’s been a part of Avengers lore since the 1960′s. Hawkeye is an expert marksman, archer, and fighter in hand to hand combat. It’s not all about super-powers. What Hawkeye lacks in powers he makes up for with cunning and skill. Read any Avengers story and Hawkeye is one of the bravest and most courageous Avengers and he is always a good asset to have in a fight.
Hawkeye can make a million to one shot that guys with super powers probably cannot. That is why he is on the team you moron.
Whedon is the weak link here? Based on the quality of the scripts and direction for the last two lead in films? Seriously?
I dont think it looks much better than Carter or Battleship at this point but at least it has a locked in audience to open to that gives it a leg up from the start.
@ Nid & Anonymous
Wow, the two of you should get married and move to a deserted island where you can bitch and moan together.
The casting has been great, the standalone films have been good (minus THE INCREDIBLE HULK) and not everyone person has to have super powers to be a superhero… ahem, Batman!
And calling this film a gamble? Are you serious?!?! You’re either completely ignorant or just an absolute idiot.
The trailer looks horrible. Very cartoonish and overdone in the CGI department. I was excited to see this, now I’m considering not going at all. Very weak to put on the national stage of the Super Bowl. Hate away fanboys… you would like it if Whedon had hulk crap in a bag and let Iron Man hold it…
My fears have been effectively put to rest. May 4th cannot get here sooner.
Absolutely fantastic. Dark Knight Rises eat your heart out.
This trailer is actually pretty cool. All the Avengers look good. Too bad Joss’s script sucks.
And how would you know that? Have you actually read the script? How would you know it sucks?
From here the dialogue sounds pretty good, “I have an army,” “We have a Hulk” while Stark is casually making a drink in front of a guy that can probably turn him into a frog is pretty badass.
Just sick of these pathetic posts that are spouting garbage but have literally no facts to back it up. These people who act like insiders and act like “they know things,” and hide behind their veil of anonymity when they truly know jack. What makes you so sure and positive the script sucks? Did you read it? And if you did, are you allowed to talk about it? If you did truly read it, I doubt it.
