TBS has ordered 35 additional episodes of Tyler Perry’s latest sitcom, Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse, which revolves around three couples at various stages of their relationships. “Tyler Perry’s shows have proven to be a popular draw for TBS on Friday nights,” said TNT and TBS’ head of original programming Michael Wright. “We’re very happy to keep that trend going by ordering more episodes of Tyler Perry’s For Better Or Worse.” Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse, produced by Tyler Perry Studios and distributed by Debmar-Mercury, premiered on TBS on Nov. 25, 2011 and averaged 2.9 million viewers and 1.6 million adults 18-49 for its 10-episode first season. Despite tracking lower than Perry’s previous 2 TBS sitcoms, House Of Payne and Meet The Browns, For Better Or Worse still ranked as basic cable’s No.1 sitcom of 2011 and the No.1 show on all of television with African-American adults. The pickup means that all 3 Perry shows produced under the Debmar-Mercury 10-90 model have gone beyond the initial 10-epsiode run on TBS. However, the backup orders have varied, with the 35-episode one for For Better Or Worse being the smallest so far. It doesn’t bring the total to a syndicate amount, something Debmar-Mercury needs for broadcast syndication distribution. Based on the Perry’s Why Did I Get Married movies, For Better Or Worse features an ensemble cast that includes Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Crystle Stewart, Kent Faulcon, Kiki Haynes and Jason Olive. Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse will return to its Friday night timeslot this summer.

All African American don’t like this crap.
the Tyler Perry Film, Play or TV Show formula
act 1: Cooning it up
act 2: Insert Drugs, Abuse or pathological stereotype with sprinkles of cooning
act 3: Sweep in with Jesus to cover up all the heinous writing you’ve already seen
Wow, kinda like the NBA and NFL Coaching system, mediocrity gets rewarded and encouraged–Tyler Perry is hard-working, sure–but damn is his stuff boring and derivative and cliche…frequently badly acted. And come to think of it, almost no bits of dialogue that I can even recall. I’ve seen 4 of his projects and it’s like the Emperor’s new clothes, there’s NOTHING REALLY THERE…
To say this show is awful is putting it mildly. The other two are at least passable, but this one was a whole different level of terrible.
“Umm hmm, Good and Terrible…” (c) Clarence from Coming to America
I, for one, am not a fan of this buffonery. Characters that get “laughs” for dressing like clowns and garbling the English language… really? This is not the 1930s. I am African-American, and this stuff is a bit embarrassing.
His success is undeniable, but his product is insufferable to watch. But keep in mind, his TV audience is extremely small compared to the African American population, it only takes a few million that enjoy this humor to make his shows popular on a cable network.
It’s for worse. Definitely for worse.
The worst show on television, by a decent margin.
What’s happening with Are We There Yet? When will it be back on the air? It’s definitely better than these T. Perry shows.
Give me a break people, there are a lot of terrible shows on TV not made by Tyler Perry. Have you seen, “Mike and Molly”, “Are You There, Chelsea”, ” 2 Broke Girls” and on and on. Tyler is just like every other TV producer out there.
You really haven’t watched Tyler Perry’s crap have you?
Congrats to Kent Faulcon who’s on this series!
Why would you congratulate Kent? He has to read Tyler Perry’s heinous dialogue. Name one person who has started on a Perry productions and gone on to appear in anything of note.
This is the Amos & Andy of the new millennium.
No Dave- he’s much worse-and rewarded with money and opportunities more than most others. It’s head-scratchingly confusing!
I hope the receptionist character does not return.
Thanks for the warning you guys.
I personally love this show and cant wait for it to come back…I do have one question….Whatever happen to if u dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all? just saying….Why is everyone getting so upset? Its just a character, and there are people that act exacly like that, and others dont,so tyler perry, keep doing what ur doing,ur awesome!!
You said a mouth full. Every show you named I hate and they also make fun and sly remarks about things so give me a dam break.
People please leave Tyler Perry alone. Support our black people. We black people never support one another. It’s sad! Personally I like the show. I can’t wait for the next episode. Keep up the good work Tyler Perry.
