The Colbert Report mysteriously cancelled tonight’s taping, Mediaite reports. Ticketholders for tonight’s taping were notified that episodes of the show had been canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances” for at least the rest of the week. Viewers tuning into Comedy Central tonight found a rerun of Colbert talking about Herman Cain. Comedy Central has not commented on why the show is repeating for the rest of the week.

i sure hope he and his family are okay. truly one of the brightest minds out there.
I hope so as well, Anon. Hopefully they release a statement soon.
It’s some type of “family emergency” supposedly. I know the real emergency – Colbert’s nowhere as FUNNY as Jay! He realized (Colbert) that he hasn’t told a funny in a couple years and that Jay schools him in the fine arts of comedy nightly!
Careful, internet sarcasm can be easily misinterpreted. Someone might think you actually enjoy Jay Leno.
I do hope you don’t give up your day job for an attempted career in comedy yourself. Jay Leno hasn’t told a funny joke in years.
Jay? Leno? is he still on TV?
Thank god. No more misinformation played on little minds.
Well, when its considered a “fake news” show I think it goes without saying that there’s going to be misinformation. You did notice its on comedy central, right?
a news satire show …..look at the first two comments ….”one of the brightest minds out there” and when you get a 1:453728 ratio of conservitives vs liberal “satire” can you really call it satire, or is it CYA
you do realize The Colbert Report is a satire… right? Glenn Beck and Keith Olbermann spread misinformation, Colbert tells jokes.
please give a list of 5 misinformation tidbits olbermann has sent out there into the universe… i dont think you can find one
True that…It’s kinda hard to spread misinformation when no one watches your show.
Colbert doesn’t tell jokes. He reminds us when we’ve allowed our lives to become jokes. His SuperPAC – 501 (c)(4) work has been genius and more cutting than any of the news networks. He shows how it can be a great way to launder money. Of course the Networks don’t want to cover SuperPACs too much since they’re where the millions from casino owners ends up.
actually what he does is say that Super PACS (meaning) the dishonest ways Republicans hoard and spend money on political campaigns….when in reality he doesn’t condemn other groups that dump undisclosed amounts of money say…Unions (SEIU,AFLCIO,TEAMSTERS,NEA on and on)….when it all boils down. It seems Colbert makes a nice razor sharp satirical point that seems to say, Republicans and their money in politics is corrupt. And the other Party, well…not so much. Super PACS are not the problem. A corrupt to the core lifetime political class is the problem. You can spend money and give money but in the end, our Senators and Congressmen and women have the ability (or at least should) to say no to doing favors. Let a super PAC help me get elected. Let the Union thugs or Teachers unions help get a democrat elected. but when the politicians start forcing bad legislation down our throats as a payback to the super pac and or union then they should be prosecuted. I can ask you to do something for me, you can say yes or no. it aint the money.
Misinformation? You realize it’s a comedy show, right?
Well, for those of us that can distinguish between that sort of thing, yes. For those that can’t, sort of needs to be pointed out.
Little minds often have a difficult time grasping the concept of SATIRE. *sigh*
I would love to see this person react to reading Jonathan Swift’s A Modest Proposal.
Sort of like the little minds that think two bit comedians are experts on politics and religion.
Last time this happened on the Daily Show was when a member of the staff died. Hope everyone is okay.
I wonder if “complications” have arisen with his SuperPAC and other political activities.
Stephen went Linsane. Got himself some Knicks tickets.
I hope this is not a censorship issue.
Uh, censorship from whom?
Comedy Central? They seem to save their Nazi act for South Park.
It’s probably something personal — Stephen is an exceptionally dedicated producer and performer and understands that he’s responsible for the jobs of hundreds of his staff members. He’s ALWAYS there. Always! Commitments to outside projects are usually scheduled way in advance, and on those days, most likely, there’s no taping scheduled for that day. Knowing this, our warmest thoughts are with him, and here’s hoping all of this is just conjecture and that everything’s okay.
I’m sure what ever it is it will turn out to be a big put-on. Just the show itself.
I hope he comes back ,I get most of my news there and I like to keep informed.
i know your tongue has to be placed firmly in cheek on that one.
perhaps he realized that his show jumped the shark a long time ago and that his stale liberal politics is little more then idiocy. maybe he decide to go reeducate himself and come back fresh with a more relevant viewpoint.
There is a difference between satire and palace guard.
As a fan of political satire, both Daily Show and Colbert Report are hilarious and awesome. Being someone who lives outside the US, I like getting what’s going on in the US in 22 min bits of hilarity. Despite it being satire, I find the shows do keep the audience up to date on certain political situations as long as there’s humor to be found in them.
Stephen Colbert is miles ahead of Sean Hannity, Maddow, O’reilly, Olberman and the rest of them when it comes to informing his viewers. Same can be said about Stewart, shameful that Comedy Central has the only real commentators on tv.
No one will notice, he gets just over 1 million viewers on a good night. Colbert, Stewart and Maher arn’t the big ratings winners the MSM wants people to think they are.
After six years, he’s taking a break to write a new joke.
Did it take you six years to write that one?
OMG! You don’t suppose that HE suddenly figured out his show is satire?
Man, this brings out the loonies, as well as the gooey, emotional set.
