UNIVERSAL CITY, CA, February 21, 2012— Action star and producer Paul Walker has signed a two-year first-look production pact with Universal Pictures to house his Laguna Ridge Pictures, the studio announced today. The first project under this agreement is the action thriller Skyscraper, based on an original idea by Mike Sobel. Walker will executive produce and star, with Neal Moritz’s Original Films producing. Walker’s most recent film with the studio, Fast Five, grossed over $630 million dollars at the worldwide box office, making it one of the biggest films in Universal’s history. This spring, Walker will start production on Fast & Furious 6. Walker is also attached to star in and executive produce Hours, alongside producer Peter Safran’s, Safran Company. The thriller, set in post-Katrina New Orleans, is slated to begin production in April. Walker recently starred in and executive produced Vehicle 19, also with the Safran Company producing. Laguna Ridge Pictures is run by Walker, Brandon Birtell and manager Matt Luber. Walker is represented by Matt Luber of Luber Roklin and UTA.

Uni keeps cutting prominent producer deals and then picks up Paul Walker? What’s he even done aside from Blue Crush and the Fast movies? Justin Lin and Chris Morgan I understand…but Walker?! Hope that deal came cheap…

I believe Paul Walker can and will accomplish whatever he sets his mind to accomplish. Obviously, do not know him, but seems like a very hard working, and dedicated person. Very involved in great causes . I also wish him nothing but the best . Peace <3

Seriously @11:47m. sounds seriously bitter. Have you even seen him in Running Scared? Give this guy solid material and he’ll kill it. He’s one of the last real men in this business. Keep bagging on the guy, but he’s one good script away from being Steve McQueen. People thought Brad Pitt was purely eye candy as well until he killed it in Seven. He’s also not a pussy like most 30 something actors in the business who are too afraid to embrace hard-edged genre films. This guy is going to catch everyone off-guard in the next few years. Good move, Universal.
Great that Paul Walker has an agreement with Universal.I’ve been to the Studio in August of last year and I was really surprised. I fall in love with the Studio! I hope I can go back some time soon.Good luck both Universal and Mr. Walker.

Paul Walker is a serious actor, and will certainly do as well as Bradley Cooper, Tatum Channing, Ryan Reynolds or Ryan Gosling. Give him a chance. Hopefully the writing will be good. Can’t wait

This is the best thing to happen for the sixth movie, reason why is that Paul loves cars, has the passion and the knowledge to make a realistic entertaining character for these films. Fast Five was done very well and i hope the next one is just as surprising and action packed, BUT still realistic and not over the top. I think people want to see more skill (which Paul has)in driving and fake graphics.. Needless to say i am very excited and hope all the best.
