Warner Bros is releasing its period LA crime drama The Gangster Squad on October 12, 2012, a week earlier than its original October 19 date. The Ruben Fleischer directed mob-vs-cops film stars Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin in the story of an elite LAPD unit tasked with keeping Mickey Cohen and other mafia bigwigs out of Los Angeles in the 1940s and ’50s. The new date already houses FilmDistrict’s crime actioner Parker, starring Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez, as well as Sony/Columbia’s Kevin James comedy Here Comes The Boom and Paramount’s comedy Fun Size.

so in other words, the new release date previously housed ZILCH.
GANGSTER SQUAD goin’ be the hotness
Hmm, ‘Fun Size’ sounds entertaining…
Must be a bad sign for the movie if they are shifting it– can’t compete with 10/19 slate? Perhaps “30 Minutes or less part2″ is the better description here…
this. even with a cast like that, still takes a shred of talent to direct the film. too bad WB found out too late.
This film always made me uneasy. I don’t think Josh Brolin puts butts in seats, and isn’t really a leading man. Although I do think that Gosling will one day be a superstar, that day isn’t now, as proved by Drive, and everything else of his last year.
I thought Sean Penn is responsible to put butts in seats not Ryan or Josh.
I think this looks good, Emma Stone has been on fire lately : Golden Globe nomination for low-budget hit, EASY A; co-lead in critically acclaimed Summer BO-hit CRAZY STUPID LOVE; co-lead in Best Picture Nominee/Smash Hit ‘The Help’ AND next, she is the female lead in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’…and considering the sequel of this reboot already has a release date, test screenings probably went remarkably well, too.
Now ‘Gangster Squad’ will come a few months after Spidey…so if the marketing department is smart, they will DEFINITELY include Stone, because by the time this film comes out, she could be EASILY the movie’s biggest star BO-wise.
