BREAKING: The 85th Academy Awards nominations will be announced on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, and the Oscarcast is Sunday, February 24th. The Oscars ceremony will be held in what was once the Kodak Theater, but which they are now calling the Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. ABC will televise it live to over 225 countries. Will the Academy take steps to try to liven up what is structurally a snoozefest? They haven’t gotten that far.

The Academy needs to adjust the voting periods. This probably means nomination ballots will be mailed even earlier in December and it’s hard enough to get through all of them. on the other hand, it will be nice getting the nominations a little sooner. The nomination is the prize, the Oscar is just the icing on the cake
I think the ballots shouldn’t be mailed until after New Years, you know, once the year you are celebrating in movies is actually over so you have time to really reflect on what you think or like about a certain film/performance.
Hopefully, this time we’ll hire a producer(s) who knows what he’s doing…
