Hellcats star Aly Michalka has been cast in Fox’s single-camera comedy pilot Rebounding. The 20th TV project, written by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman and directed by Jason Winer, is an uplifting comedy about Danny, a man recovering from the death of his fiancé with the help of the idiots on his pickup basketball team. Michalka, repped by CAA and Prospect Park, will play the girlfriend of one of Danny’s friends.
Veteran Phylicia Rashad has joined NBC/Uni TV’s Jekyll & Hyde-style medical drama Do No Harm. The project, written by David Schulner, centers on Jeffrey Kohn (Steven Pasquale), a brilliant neurosurgeon who wrestles with his dangerous alter-ego Ian Price who threatens to wreak havoc on his personal and professional life. Rashad, repped by Innovative and Parseghian Planco, will play Dr. Vanessa Harris, the powerful, cutting and intimidating Chief of Surgery.
David Arquette has been added to ABC’s dueling sisters comedy pilot The Smart One. The project, written by Don Todd, centers on a brilliant and successful woman (Portia de Rossi) who has to go to work for her less brainy but more popular sister (Malin Akerman) — a former beauty queen, weather girl … and now big-city mayor. Arquette will play Akerman’s husband. Jean Smart has been cast as the sisters’ mother. DeGeneres, Todd and Lauren Corrao are executive producing for Warner Bros TV.

That NBC series sounds great; a dramatic version of The Nutty professor?
thank you for changing the headline to give credit to the MANY talents that are also in this casting notice.
i think it safe to say The Smart One will be picked up to Series…Probably take over the 830 slot on Tuesday since i doubt ABC is gonna cancel a Tim Allen show after 1 year
Thank you for Aly Michalka! She’s awesome!!
I am still pissed at how the CW handled Hellcats. They took a show with good ratings for them, and shoved it onto a new night after a long hiatus, all in its first season. They put it in a slot that had killed other shows for them and then were surprised when it killed this one too. Hellcats wasn’t a meaty TV show, just light entertainment, but I still enjoyed it. Near the end Dawn O also forced some awkward romantic triangle between the leads as well, as she did with all her shows. She insisted that almost every female on the CW be rivals and they couldn’t focus on being friends. This busted up the great warm, funny dynamic Hellcats’ leads had, and replaced it with boring angst. Also, horribly anti-female attitude from the female head of the network.
What do you expect from the woman that cut her teeth by burying Veronica Mars?
Change The Charecters Name To Somthing Cool
Aly needs to get into the skin-a-max side of things…
It will be nice to see Phylicia Rashad back on television.
Great choice.
Thrilled to see Aly in another project. This multi-talented beauty is always a joy to watch. Noticed her amazing style in Phil of the Future and Cow Belles (with AJ). Looking forward to seeing it.
I’m genuinely curious: does anyone know how (deal-wise) Portia deRossi and Will Arnett (Up All Night) are going to be able to do the new Arrested Development episodes?
love Aly shes a beautiful actress & singer
