EXCLUSIVE: Ben Rappaport, the star of NBC’s comedy series Outsourced, has been tapped as the lead of another comedy series project, ABC’s pilot Awesometown (formerly Dusty Goes To Awesometown and untitled Adam Sztykiel). The comedy pilot, from writer/executive producer Sztykiel and 20th Century Fox TV, is described as a raw, hilarious peek behind the curtain of modern twentysomething relationships. It centers on Dusty (Rappaport), a twentysomething guy who had been with the same woman, now his wife, since 8th grade. After he catches her cheating, he gets a divorce and, still a total mess in the aftermath, moves into an apartment shared by his co-worker Andrew (Nick Kocher) and roommate Oliver (James Earl III). Rappaport is with Gersh and Invictus Entertainment.

Awesometown? This from the same company that just got killed by calling a $250M picture “John Carter”? What happened over there, Disney used to have the best branding/marketing team in the business?
This is supposed to funny?
Why not call it “New Guy” since it sounds exactly like New Girl???????
ahh parvesh cheena? gupta? opinions, i know, but really??
Ben Rappaport was the best thing in “Outsourced.” I’m glad to see he’s getting a shot at another series.
No he wasn’t. There were several actors who actually had tons of talent in that mediocre show like Sacha Dhawan, Parvesh Cheena and Anisha Nagaranjan but Rappaport wasn’t one of them.
Ofcourse this being Hollywood the white guy will get tons of shots even if he doesn’t have an ounce of talent.
The pilot is actually really funny. Hope it gets picked up to series!
“Awesometown”? Wasn’t that a failed Fox pilot from The Lonely Island?
Otherwise knows as generic sitcom pilot idea #4. Nothing awesome about the premise.
Yeah, Awesometown will forever be associated with the Lonely Island pilot EP’ed by Lord/Miller. Now Samberg is a movie star, Akiva is an up and coming director, and Lord/Miller are the hottest directors in town with the positive buzz of 21 Jump Street. I guess the idiots at Fox wanted to remind us that they passed on a bunch of superstars who all went on to better things. Smart!
pilot is truly funny…hoping this makes the cut as it’s a talented group involved.
I’m going to pass on this. I’m 24.
I’m going to pass on it too. I’m not an idiot who needs to tell his age for no reason at all.
The REAL Awesometown pilot (The Lonely Island) was great. Should have been a series.
How can people be posting that the pilot is good and they hope it is going to get picked up…I just auditioned for the pilot bout 2 weeks ago and it is being shot and filmed in LA March 21-23.
Ben Rappaport was great in Outsorced and I’m sure he will be great in this new series
