Veteran reality producer and comedic celebriality guru Cris Abrego has signed with CAA. He was at UTA. Along with frequent collaborator Mark Cronin, Abrego has been VH1′s go-to guy for the channel’s core celebreality fare with such series as The Surreal Life, Flavor of Love, Rock of Love and Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business. He most recently ventured into broadcast as an executive producer of CBS’ reality series Same Name.

Such a great resume… some of the worst things ever made under the “reality” banner. Kudos to CAA. Not sure this replaces Nolan though.
after looking at that impressive list of shows…is genius too strong a word?
Having closely worked with Cris Abrego, I can vouch for him being one of the Godfathers of reality TV. If anyone in this town knows how to tell humorous stories, cast hilarious characters and assemble teams of brilliant producers, its this guy.
The Surreal Life was awesome and someone should bring that train wreck back.
Would love a series with Brandy confronting the family of the mother she killed on the 405 a few years back.
Chris’s reputation is stellar. His office and also Ben Samek’s over there at 51 Minds are some of the best to work with. Congrats!
Abrego is not only a great storyteller, he’s the kind of leader you feel honored to work with. It’s great to see him continue to do so well.
Trash TV at its worst. This is embarrassing TV. A resume full of shows like “Flavor of Love” is nothing to be proud of.
I worked as a PA for 51 Minds during the Writer strike and Chris always said hello and called me by name which is rare in this town. Great guy and I wish him nothing but success.
I worked at MTV and not only generated the idea for Ray J and had Ray J begging to do a show on MTV just prior to the Kim K tape release, but handed the Ray J show over to VH1 and Abrego so he can’t take credit it.
I’ve worked with Cris in the past, and i always remember him not only being a GREAT producer, also being a GREAT person. People can hate reality shows all they want, but just remember that a lot of the shows he produced were rated number one, i wish the best for him, and im sure in the future he will be more successful than he is right now
GREAT people can still make trash. Case in point. Some of the worst garbage to ever hit the airways. Ever.
